RA symptoms... | Arthritis Information

Hi y'all,

I am new to the forums and have not been dx yet. Have already seen my PC and neg for RA and Lupus. Have appt with Ortho Thursday and RD appt is May 10. I am very misreble. I have felt like I am getting the flu since Janurary. Fingers and knee are swollen, and feet, elbows, wrists ache! Not to mention I have the carpal tunel feelings in both wrists.

I am very curious to know if anyone has had shin pain with their flare ups? I have this along with the normal RA symptoms and found this artical on it.

Any responses would be most appreciated!

You do not have to have a positive rhuematoid factor (RF) to have RA.  I am sero negative and there are a lot of other people here that are sero negative as well.  Make sure you mention your swelling and aching to your RD.  The carpal tunnel feeling could be a pinched nerve or inflammation from the RA.  RA can affect the tendons, ligaments, and nerves.

I do not have shin pain with my flare ups but other people here might and they may be able to answer that question for your further.

Hope you start feeling better soon!

Hi Lisa!!

I have had shin pain for about a month. Now it isn't aching. I kept thinking I must have hit it on something but I never saw any bruising or redness. I never thought it could be from RA. I guess because there wasn't a joint there. Very interesting.......thanks for sharing.

I hope you get some releif soon!

Hi Lisa

one of my first symptoms was shin pain. When I walked it felt like my shin bones were going to pop out of my skin. I dont get it as bad now.The flu symptoms are also like the feeling I get when i'm starting a RA flare up.Hope all goes well with your Doctors appointment and that you feel better soon

Lisa

Thank you for the article.  I've had horrible shin pain from time to time.  And Iam sero-negative also for RA.   My bloods are fine but I do have RA.  Blood tests are only one part of the puzzle, Lisa.  Keep the appointment with the Rheumatologist and good luck.

Hi Lisa and welcome, just wanted to let you know that I too have sero-negative RA.

A big thanks to all for responding to my post. It makes me feel better just to know I am not crazy and not the only one feeling like I do.

Boy...I sure notice a lot of bickering on the forums. Is this a constant thing? It's very sad that there is no place you can go for total peace of mind...someone always has to be overly sensative or too brass.

Hope everyone can work thru their issues with each other. Blessed39168.5132523148No shin pain but your symptoms sure sound like sero negative RA.  I would try to get a diagnosis as soon as possible so you can get treated.  Welcome Lisa.  Blessed is a wonderful avator name (I don't know computer language)Sometimes leg pain is caused by a lack of calcium and magneseum in your body---I get it off and on (starting right before I got RA). You can test this cheaply by buying a pack of TUMS or Rolaids that has calcium/magneseum in it and eating two a day. If by the end of the pack your leg pain is relieved, it's time to go to the drugstore and buy a cal/mag supplement. Thanks Roxy!

Through it all I am blessed!! IT COULD ALWAYS BE WORSE...

I believe it is RA as well...I just lost my grandmother in Oct to complications of Rheumatoid, Osteo, and Lupus. She raised me from 6 wks old, my mother passed away. We were so very close and I hated seeing her continually go down hill. I miss her dearly!! Blessed39168.540775463Dear Lisa, I don't have shin pain, but I believe this 'stuff' can be anywhere, especially since I've read the posts from people on this forum. I hope others can help you and point you in the right direction. My gosh so much help here! Keep writing, Sarah
