OT....computer for use in hospital | Arthritis Information

Ok this is off topic. I would like to know if there are any computer oriented individuals out there that could answer my question....

If I should have to be hospitalized for a long time ( or sick in bed for awhile)I would like to have a computer with internet access. What type of laptop would be most appropriate for this? WIll I need a wireless one?

Other than that I think I will just get an MP3 player and maybe a portable DVD player.

thankyou

Yep, you'd need to see if WiFi was avlb in the hospital you'd stay at. Then your lap top would need a WiFi card - the majority of new laptops come standard with them.

There are many hospitals now that offer high speed internet access.  Most of them at least offer dial up internet access.  I can't tell you what kind of laptop to get since I am of the mindset that if I am going to get something like a computer I want the latest up to date one.  You can get a laptop for as little as 0.00 these days if you watch for the sales at like Best Buy or Office Depot.  If you are in bed at home you will probably want something that is wireless.  Which means you are going to need a router and a wireless card for the laptop.  The nice thing about Best Buy is that the Geek Squad will come set up your wireless network for free if you purchase from Best Buy.

MP3 players rock!  I love mine.  You can get a nice 1GB MP3 player for around 40 bucks now.  Portable DVD players are real cheap these days too.

Which MP3 would you suggest?

SONY!!! But I'm biased......

LOL Katie.  NOT an iPod that's for sure.  You have to pay  for iTunes to get them onto your iPod.

Sony's are a good product.  But in all reality...they are basically all made the same now.  It just depends if you prefer name brand stuff or not.  You can get a Sansa 1GB MP3 player at Walmart for 40 bucks.  Just make sure you get comfy earphones for it.  We have like a million different pairs in our house cuz we all like different ones lol.  Danny uses a pair specifically for work...the girls like another kind...I like another kind...lol.

OMG jode...I have a hilarious story for you.  Danny has an MP3 player that only held like 120 songs.  So he wanted more on there so I got him a memory card.  I think it is a 256mb card.  But I digress.  He asked me how does he access the songs on the memory card!!!!!  I had to explain to him that you don't "access" anything and it works like the memory card in the camera lol.  He ARGUED with me for 15 minutes about it!!!

lol....that is funny.

I will prob go to WallMart and try to find an MP3 player, I am not that into name brand stuff....just so it does what it is supposed to do I am ok. I almost bought one online from PC something or other....but had to get offline cause ........MOTHER.........I will be out and about tomorrow so I will have to check and see which one to get.I did see the Sansa one online but online it is .00 I think.

Thanks so much.....I already know some of the songs I want, and yes, Celine Dion is included in them! lol
