MTX Injections | Arthritis Information

I have been taking MTX (by injection) for 5 yrs. now and have encountered a couple of problems and need your help.  First probelm:  Also started Remicade over a year ago and doc wanted me to start going off the MTX or at least reducing my dosage so he told me to just cut my dose in half (from 27.5 mg/wk to 14 mg/wk). Changes in this med usually show in about 8 weeks and after that time I started having problems: lightheadedness, severe anxiety / panic, confusion, and looking back it had to be my body reacting to less MTX.  Anyone else experience the same with this med and how do you take less if your body reacts this way?   2nd problem:  My pharmacist and those in my area (GA) are having trouble getting MTX injection from their supplier.  Any suggestions?  (Can't take pills because of stomach problems).  Thanks for your help!

Hi - If you can find a "compounding" pharmacy in your area, they can compound the MTX.  It won't have the preservative in it but they can give you two injections at a time - you have to take one the day they compound it and the next one 7 days later because it is only stable for 7 days.

This is how I have been able to get it to take because I can't do the oral at all

Good luck!

I WENT OFF MTX AND DIDN'T HAVE ANY OF THOSE SYMPTOMS BUT MY SYMPTOMS RETURNED WITH A VENGENCE SO I WENT BACK ON--I WONDER IF U WERE EXPERIENCING SOME OTHER PROBLEM--HOPE U R FEELING BETTER
