If MTX works for RA would chemo used for a malignancy be productive in diminishing the RA as well?

jode

Certainly makes sense doesn't it? I'd guess yet.

Jode; do you have cancer? I'm a little lost. I've seen bits and pieces but I don't think I've seen exactly what's going on with you. Have you been dx'ed with cancer?

Oh ...well I am not sure as of yet to be honest, I raised my son through scouts and so I have "learned" to "be prepared". Plus I have a tendency to research.

I will have my "teet in a ringer" today...better known as the almighty "breast press" geesh I can hardley wait!~ I am cringing at the thought.

They do have a coverlet you can buy for .00 , they say it helps, I think I will take the .00 with me today and see if they will let me use it. So no deodorant today folks...hope ya don't smell me from your neck of the woods!

Yes they will have more to look at as my breast tissue has increased, yes I have nodules in there, yes it is sensitive...but ya know what?! "Lola Lefty" will  be fine no matter what the results reveal.

I have put this off  and then forgot  and missed my appt. in January...or was that Feb.? but then soon remembered when Elizabeth and hubby had a press conference. Seems like everyone is getting a malignant dx lately doesn't it? My nephew has an entire year of his trauma with the Lymhoma to deal with. I am just taking it as it comes. Besides, if it is cancer, I get a new hat and hairdo! *not really laughing but have to chuckle about all this*

Beautiful day out today. I will be enjoying the weather. Tomorrow is my daughter's last day of High school too! THe semester will be over, she graduates in May.

Thankyou for your concern and I will keep all posted, definately will keep everyone posted.

Let us hear how it goes Jode. Hopefully it's nothing serious....and I've had the test; and it wasn't nearly as bad as everyone had warned. I do have very large breast though and I have heard it's worse for those with smaller breast.

Best Wishes!

Yep, this is about my 5th or 6th one, it feels like they are trying to pull your left shoulder blade around front for the picture. It isn't so much the press, well it is, but the worst part is the pulling and pinching of that part of your body under your arm/ gland and ect. that they pull up on the press. I just do not have much body there!

lol then they tell you to hold your breath and I am always waaaay ahead of 'em on that! Who can breath with all that going on? lol Time sure stops between picture time when the tech is behind the window and  when they finally get around to releasing that thing I will tell ya that much!

jode

lol......and I always get 2 tries on each breast...aren't I lucky?GRUMBLE  GRUMBLE

jode

Hope it's not too tough on you Jode, and pray that you get a happy outcome.

Take Care and keep those good vibes up!!

Oh I so remember that part Jode. I have a fear of entrappment. Closiphobic (However you spell that!) I had such a fear of something happening and I'd be stuck there with myt boob pressed in that machine and couldn't free myself. YICKS!! Talk about nightmare.

There was a silly cartoon about a woman practising for a mammo by slamming her breast in the freezer door, and using the remote while laying on the garage floor to drop the garage door on her breast.

Seriously Good Luck. Most lumps are benign.

Too Funny M! MTX is actually a chemo drug that is used to treat breast cancer.  They found that in the course of treating the cancer that the ladies with RA had a reduction in the RA symptoms.  So of course clinical trials and research began and the FDA eventually approved it for use with RA.  We take a much smaller dose than they use for chemo tho.  So that explains why we get the mouth sores, our hair falls out, we are so tired, and the tummy side effects.  It beats up on our folic acid we naturally produce so hence the folic acid we need to take with it to help prevent or make the side effects somewhat not as bad.

That is  kind of what I figured on the MTX.....well the "breast press" was very uncomfortable and I am still sore! The radiologist had an ultrasound taken and he said it looked like all healthy tissue, bumpy, but all healthy...it sort of looked like the planet Mars or Moon to me

I will do a followup with my internist and ask him why I am having pain...

SO that was a good report!

jode

I'm very happy to hear the test was negative.  What a relief!

I had very large breasts until a year ago when I had reduction surgery. Best thing I ever did in my life!  I went from a EE to a full B.  Cute, very cute.  I haven't had a mammogram since before my surgery.  I'm scared they'll get flat and floppy again!  (How's that for vanity!)

You'd think they'd come up with some better way of checking for breast cancer.  I'd rather have ultrasound, personally. *sigh*

Take Care

Jeanne

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, just gotta find out what is causing all this pain, then I'll be ok.

jode

YAY!!!  Glad that is negative!!!!
