Bad cold | Arthritis Information

Hi all,

I have caught a bad cold from my DEAR husband and I was wondering about skipping my embrel shot.  I thought I heard somewhere not to take embrel when you have colds? I put a call into my rheumy but of course they are closed for the long weekend.  Any advice?

Thanks,

Sha

i have bronchitis, well i had it.. taking antibiotics for 5 days now... took my enbrel this morning....*shrug* no one told me not to....

I'd call the hotline (On your Enbrel) just to make sure. If it's not a serious infection and your doctor hasn't asked you to stop you're probable fine.

I have a slight cold myself but I'll be taking my Humira.

The times I've had bladder infections and been on antibiotics my doctor recommended that I continue with my meds...not sure that means much; but It's shown me that you'll be taken off all your meds at the first sign of any infection doesn't apply in all situations. It might just depend on what the infection is.

Just keep an eye on your symptoms. If it gets worse...see your GP. Things like colds can get in your chest and lead to worse problems. Hope you're feeling better soon!!

I've always been told to stop immune suppressants when you get an infection. This would mean Enbrel and all the rest of biologics. Also MTX, Imuran etc. I have done this whenever I got sick with anything. Usually I would only miss 1 or 2 doses.
