More questions about Prednisone... Yes it can definitely wear off b/w doses. our 6you daughter has taken it in various doses and when she was due for her next dose you could really see her slipping. It is like a miracle when it works - but wearing off it is Awful! Good luck! Nellie Yep... it does wear off between doses. For me a dose usually lasts me 14 hours at the most. I usually take mine before I go to sleep, which is anywhere from 1-3 in the morning, as it helps me with my morning stiffness and pain thru the night, but by 6 in the evening I am starting to swell, increased pain, and get stiff a lot faster, which is called gelling. I have mine in the morning (down now to8mg) after breakfast. Take Plaquenil (2) & Brufen Retard (2x800mgs) after dinner. Along with the 1/weekly Methotrexate and Fosamax. Oh, and the folic acid 5mg 5xweekly. This seems to keep me mostly comfortable, except on the day after I have been working under the misapprehension that I am Wonderwoman!!! (And just recently when we have begun to get cold weather)!! Take care and certainly don't be concerned about asking your questions - it's a lot to take in and deal with!! (I felt like I wrote a lot of times at the beginning because I was in such pain and I knew people on the board would understand) they can respond ....or not. Yes, I know that prednisone has saved me a lot of pain and discomfort. I only take 15 mg's (waiting for methotrexate and Remicade to work) but if I try to cut down to 10 I know it right away!. I try to take 2 in the morning then if I 'need it' I take the other one. I'm not having much success cutting back either. Someone suggested cutting them in half and trying (for me 2-1/2). I still needed 3, but I'll keep trying. I wish there was something I could take that works as well, but I don't need to get off of..... Can Prednisone wear off between doses?
I started taking 40mg a day yesterday, I felt wonderful all day...now I'm begining to hurt again. I feel heat in my joints (inside) but not to touch. And I'm not due to take anymore until tomorrow. Is this normal? It's storming pretty bad here (Burleson, TX) and has been raining all day.....

I'm willing to bet that weather has something to do with it though!! It was SUPPOSED to storm today, and ohhhh yeah did I feel it!! Even with my meds!
effects start wearing off. That is why they may have you take a dose and
split it up during the day.
Always ask questions. We are all confused sometimes.
