Heel/finger joint question | Arthritis Information

Anyone with RA experience heel soreness in your feet?  When it's mild I will notice it only when in the shower standing on a hard surface - and when it's more than mild I'm aware of it even with shoes on.  It's best described as feeling sore - not aching or sharp pains.

Also, does RA involve the lower joints next to your fingernails?  I thought I read somewhere that it does not.....

I'm still in the process of finding out if I have RA and my Rheumatologist is scheduling more tests for next month.  Any feedback from those with RA would be appreciated.  Thanks.

My feet get very sore.  Arthritis can affect any joint in the body.  My heels are very sore when I first get up in the morning. After that,
they're okay. Keep in mind that RA affects different joints in different
people.

And even if a "textbook" says something can't be from RA, that's not
always true.

Hopefully, your rheumatologist will work closely with you to get to
the root of the problem. Good luck and welcome!

Dear Jab1, A month ago I had some real awful pain in my heels. This was before I got the RA meds helping me. I had so many other painful spots that the heel thing hurt like heck, but it was one of the milder ones! Now after taking Remicade, MTX & prednisone I don't have it any more. I still have stiffness in my hands, fingers, wrists, but the feet are better. I've come to the conclusion this 'stuff' can hurt anywhere at anytime!!! (it's sort of like you wake up in the morning and say, "Well, where will it be today"? strange but true.......

Sarah

I get heel pain a few times a year.  It's also a place where my Reumatologist is monitoring for bone breakdown. It is also possible to have bone spurs. You may want to also consult a podiatrist. A lot of people have RA start in their feet.
