mtx and sore throat | Arthritis Information

 

does anyone get a sore thraot after taking mtx? its like its scratchy. I also think this stuff is making me Moody! anyone else with these symptoms from mtx? i didnt have this bad of side effects the first two times i took it.

           I was prescribed MXT and noticed a sore and raspy throat and my joints especially in the feet were 10 times worsae. My rhemy took me off it after a month and had me see a lung specialist. I now have either RA or MXT lung. Unusual most likely , possible ..yes. Hope I was of some help....Nabeel

I don't really have a sore throat; but I do get that raspy voice occationally. It's not constant; but it's far more frequent than it was ever before.

I've been on MTX for more than 4 years now and it hasn't been bad enough for me to discontinue use.

Moody? I often think that's common with RA not nessesarilly the medications. Predisone makes me mean as a PitBull; but I do through times when I'm very moody. That's likely common with any chronic illness.

my arthtitis symptoms have gotten much worse since being on pred. and mtx. why, or how could this be. more swollen joints. more stiff in the morning well, more stiff all day. does this happen in the beggining of therapy? i am also concerned of this "mtx lung" thingy. as i am a smoker. It just seems that since the start of theses meds i have gotten full blown psoriatic arthritis!

Definately consult your RD. I've heard of some folks getting worse on MTX; but that's not the reaction I've had. Something doesn't sound quite right.

I had a sore throat when taking MTX which turned out to be a thrush infection.  It never really went away even with anti-fungal meds so I eventually stopped MTX and am on Humira only now.  It's always a good idea to get the doc to check it out.

        To be a little more specific, I was on a daily pill of MXT (MGS ?) and after about 2 weeks my throat started to become very raspy and after 3 weeks my joints ,especially in the feet became worse by the day. I thought all this throat and chest stuff was as labled...a flu like reaction. At the tiume I too was a smoker, but quit since. I noticed on some others got off MXT because of prolems and they like me were born in the UK. I think where you grew up could have something to do with MXT and you. Anyhow as I said before got off after a month but I definitely have a lung problem. Good luck   NabeelMTX has caused my throat to become raspy and I've also developed several of the listed side effects on the drug info leaflet, to include stomatitis, which causes mouth sores in your throat. I've gotten rid of it by swallowing maalox and benedryl which my doctor prescribed to use for it. If any of you develop that side effect it will cause your jaws, face and eyes to hurt including your throat. I've had a few times so far while taking MTX and if I continue to get it I most likely will stop taking MTX.  I do take Lecovorin and Folic Acid to reduce the side effects.
