Honestly, I took 2-1/2 prednisone (down from3 ) and 4 methotrexate 2.5 and I felt worse today. Stiff, achy, the WORKS!! Someone else mentioned this. I don't know why?

Not really but the mtx used to make me feel sick to stomache and very tired even with pred (the energizer bunny didn't even work).maybe you are feeling worse from cutting back on the prednisone/Dear anewbeginning, good point!Since last year I was taking MTX and Prednisone, and I always felt worse after taking them. I was on 3-2.5mg tabs now on 1tab and it's still the same. My doctor told me that folks that take MTX through an IV hook-up usually don't get the achy tired and exhausted feeling. I think I deal with the pain and exhaustion for 2-3 days after taking the meds then get an Intravenous hook-up...yuck! I did retire last month so it helps somewhat as I don't have to go to work feeling really bad and spaced out.
Increased MTX 2-6!, so thought I should increase folic acid? Anyway, can't get to my doctor....Took 2x800 folic. 6 mtx and reduced prednisone from 3- to 2-1/2 (which i was told to try).I hate this self medicating. Will talk to my doctor the 9th.

sarah, i think you and i are in the same boat, started on meds around the same time, and on the same ones. whaen were you diagnosed? athough i take the shot form of mtx witch is i think 10mg a week. 1mg folic acid a day. and 10mg pred. a day. i am not ready to cut back on the pred yet. Last saturday was my third dose of mtx. and by far was the worst side effects. I am a little scared to take next saturdays dose. this is such an up and down battle, just when you think its doing its job. bam! the next day you feel worse than before:(
