New Rheumy | Arthritis Information

I had my first visit with my new Rheumy today. First, of all, I finally met a doctor (or maybe a PA) that is over the board handsome. Hubba, Hubba. Dr (or Mr.) Peter came in first and did his exam and then the Rheumy came in. They understood perfectly my wanting a second opinion after that last Rheumy said I didn't even have RA. They are going to do new xrays and bloodwork and start from scratch on determining what exactly is going on with me while they get the records from the previous Rheumys. Then, if I do have RA, they certainly would consider treating it with biologics. They didn't get why I wouldn't be able to take biologics in the future except for Enbrel since it didn't work. The Rheumy was impressed that I knew so much terminologogy and he was not offended by that at all. Between the good pain specialist, the new primary and now a logical, reasonable Rheumy, I just might stand a chance of getting better. I'm really happy about the outcome. How nice to be treated with a bit of respect and given some real hope again.

I am SOO HAPPY for you, Deanna!

Huggs,
June

Deanna, that is wonderful! It's so good to get a doctor, any doctor, who treats you with respect and gives you credit for knowing your own body.

My rheumy was also impressed with my knowledge, but when we've had these problems for so long, and seen so many doctors, we are bound to absorb what they are telling us, eventually

I'm sure your new doctor treats you like an equal, because you are. I'm so thrilled for you! Maybe, with the medical team you now have, you can finally get a proper diagnosis and treatment.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. Please keep us posted.

Love & hugs,

Nini

Woooooooooohooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!

Do a little dance.......okay wait..the rest of that song is kinda inappropriate.....Hahahaha

DEANNA BANANA What did he say about the Cymbalta? Anything? I'm tired of you being tired all the time :( I miss-a you-a!

Yeah I just took my melatonin pill.......it kicked in.....I'm rather loopy.

SO I'M JUST EXTRA HAPPY FOR YOU!! WOOOOOO!!!!!
Thanks everyone. I am taking the Cymbalta, but still at the 30 mg. It isn't covered by my insurance and they only have 30 mg samples. I'm going to try and get it through the psych doc because sometimes they will pay for meds through that instead and I might get on a lower dose.

The Cymbalta does really help with both the nerve pain, the FM pain and the depression. It does make me too drowsy but the benefits are definitely worth it. I am hoping I adjust to it because on it, it is the first time in many, many months that I have had hours that are actually pain free. If anyone is considering it, I definitely recommend trying it including for the depression. It makes me feel much more calm. I'm hoping it helps me get off some of the other meds.
WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!  What EXCELLENT news!!!  I am so happy for you!!!!!  Good things are headed your way!!  Your fighting has once again paid off for you!!!  WAY TO GO!!!!  Another Notch Deanna. Good for you, soon you will cartwheeling in the moonlight instead of just walking

sarah

Well gosh, it's about time. You'd think these Dr.'s would be happy to have someone come in with some knowledge so they wouldn't have to explain so much. Anyway, I hope this guy works out for you. I'm happy for you, Deanna.

I recall how elated I was when I finally found my wonderful RD.  I'm so happy that you have one you can trust and depend on too, now.  Doesn't hurt that he's good looking too, eh?  I tell my RD every time I see her what a gem she is and what an impact she has had on my life.  She is so humble...I don't know what I'll do if/when she ever retires.

I'm sure you're on the right road now, to a correct diagnosis and treatment.  I'm so happy for you!

That is such good news Deanna!  Sarah is right, is that too much too ask from our Dr's?  A little respect and compassion go a long way and it was time for you to have a good team of Dr's.Yay!!!  Great news!  A caring doctor makes a huge difference!

I recently started cymbalta, about 2 months ago.  I have just worked up to the 60mg.  I take mine at night to try and sleep through some of the more bothersome side effects.
Deanna, who are you trying to kid.  We all know it's the doc's good looks that is making you feel better!!  C'mon Deanna, admit it for goodness sake. Hubba hubba and hoop de dooo!  We may have this darn disease, but we are not blind and the hormones are not dead either.
And he treated you with respect and admired your knowledge?  Geez, men like that are hard to find.  Sounds like he is a keeper.
Seriously Deanna, I am very happy for you.

I'm sooooo happy for you, Deanna!!  Your determination is paying off.  I pray you will now get to the bottom of things with this new doc.  Best Wishes.
