Scared to death of arthroplalsty surgery | Arthritis Information

I have read so many of the responses to questions about arthroplasty surgery.  I am a Paralegal and in the process of moving to the Memphis area. However, my hand dr. is here (in Orlando) and I am very comfortable with her and her experience. I am scheduled to have arthroplasty done on my thumb next week. They will take a tendon out ofmy forearm and replace the thumb joint. I have no idea what to expect as to being able to move (packing boxes, yecch) and then finding a new job...in Memphis.  Will I be able to Type? I'm right handed.  Last year my thumb all the way to my elbow would literally freeze up with extraordinary pain.  It has lessened now but after a day of lifting files, typing, etc., I'm exhausted with the pain in my hand. I can type ok now but am really afraid of what to expect. The dr. says it will only get worse and I've had at least 3 injections of cortisone--each one lasting a little less time than the one before. Can anyone help me or tell me if I am on the right path.  I REALLY appreciate your help.
