Celebrating the good moments | Arthritis Information

Today I made lemon meringue ice cream pies and basil/tomato biscuits and washed 4 loads of laundry.  Before RA I wouldn't have thought that this was reason to celebrate.  Today, however, as I mixed dough and folded laundry, I found myself thinking how I feel fortunate to be able to do those things today.   RA brings uncertainty for the future and makes me try to make the most of the present.

Now I just might go bake some cookies too (nieces and a nephew in town this weekend with celiac disease that I like to spoil with gluten-free treats).

Today this is what I can celebrate.  In the future I know I may look back on this and wish I could manage the same things, but won't be able to.  What makes you celebrate now?

So, happy to hear that you got so much done today, Joy!

Well, today I finally finished getting all the clothes out of the black bags and folded and put away! Now, I just need to finish up the laundry (about 3-4 loads... yeah hubby's pants take up a lot of washer space) and then I will have completed all the clothes.

Thanks Joonie!

Update on progress:  just messed up my cookie dough measurements and have to ditch my dry baking ingredients and start over!    $%#$%, oh ya, I was celebrating, that's right, happy, happy joy, joy!  Joy39178.5884722222

Sorry 'bout the cookie dough... Maybe it is a sign? I know when things start to mess up it means I am not suppose to do it or have it.

Good Luck on the next batch!

If I complete my laundry in 1 day, I feel like I'm a productive person again. My husband does all of our cooking, as standing for too long causes me a lot of pain in my back and neck. But occasionally I will put a roast and veggies in the crock pot and fix him a nice dinner, like I used to. That always makes me feel great! It's not much work but it's something he has always loved, and he is so good to me that I love to be able to do something nice for him!

My youngest granddaughter is 2years old and is the light in my life! Being able to play with her for a while is truly a celebration! There is nothing like the love of a grand-baby to make you feel alive!

I just try to remember that I still have a lot of joy in my life. I am sad for the things I have lost, because of my health, but I am still alive and have many blessings.

Gentle hugs and blessings to you,

Nini

Sounds delicious!  Celebrating is good...just make sure you don't overdo.

The only thing I can celebrate right now is getting to the office this morning and working through the whole day.  It's been a rough couple of days, but that is still something to celebrate.  I am grateful that I am still able to work.

I'm glad you started this thread...I'm going to try to remember to find at least one thing to celebrate every day.

Mmmmmmmm cookies...........

Despite my pains, the fact that my RD appt is SOOON has boosted me. I have done a mini load of laundry EVERY DAY THIS WEEK.

I know. Close your mouth, you'll let flies in.

I looooovvveeee celebrating......do we get nakkie men for this party too?????

ooooowww... nakkid men with six-packs instead of kegs *drools* Oh and can we watch the nakkid men workout to bunz-o-steel ?! Huh? Huh? Can we? Can we?!

Sorry... I am lacking in something. *wink, wink* NO, it is not in smarts... I am a smartass at times, so... it very well could possibly be brain cells from all these RA meds...

Katie:  "nakkie men"  ... hmmm, I don't think you mean gingerbread cookies do you?!

I'm sorry, just every time we turn around we're talking about celebrating.........we are in DESPERATE need of a party here.....

And a good party calls for nekkie men. Mmhmm.

Okay, party at my place!  Just call before you get here so I can make some extra cookies (and hire that "entertainment"!)!

Oh, did I mention it snowed here today?  You might want to pack some extra warm clothes if we're going to do bbq on the deck. ...

Yeah.............count me out. I don't "do" snow........LOL

Alright folks, we've hijacked this long enough - what else is everyone celebrating!! Come on, SHARE!!

Ok, the entertainment needs to be guys that also do the running into frozen lakes in their under-roos, so we can watch them from the deck window while they stand outside nekkid while b-b-q'ing

Speaking of... has anyone seen the Sienfeld episode where George gets seen by Jerry's girlfriend, while he is changing after getting out of the pool? LMAO!! Catch phrase from that episode is "There was shrinkage!"
