I recently read an optimistic report (you can google Jalava S. Reunanen) on Healing of erosions in rheumatoid arthritis. The study states that previously, joint/bone damage was believed to be non-reversible, however, it goes on to describe the observed healing of bone erosions of three patients' hands and feet when inflammation had disappeared.
