I have i think 4 auto immune diseases that have been diagnosed. Psoriatic arthritis, Psoriasis, graves disease and lichen sclerosis. Don't know if costochondoitis is auto immune as well, that would be 5 if it is.  Was wondering how many for everyone else is common. Once the auto immune system is tilted, when and where does it stop? Does it keep going or is there a common number of diseases where it comes to a stop? Jennee39181.1623148148

Good post.

Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Raynaud's and Sjogrens.

How fun!!!!!!!  NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it makes you fell better Jennee.  Costochondritis is not autoimmune. Also,   PA is considered a complication of psoriasis not a seperate disease, so you disease count is 3 not 5

For what its worth I only have RA

Three for me. graves disease, ra and thyroid.

RA and Reynauds....so far.RA and Thyroid, and Please I don't want anymoreoh! and Sjogrens. Does memory loss count??JRA.

Can you believe that that's it?

SO FAR ANYWAY. :|

According to my doc everthng I have is RA related so its all autoimmuneRA and FMS so far.I have too many to count, a least 5. I get depressed when I list them and they are still investigating for more. I think it's caused by too much exposure to doctors.

Hashimoto's and RA.

Let's see.  The RA...asthma...and high blood pressure.  I'm not sure if the high blood pressure is auto immune tho.  The asthma is tho.  RA...Raynaud's...Sjogrens

Grammastkittles,

Asthma is autoimmune too?  If that's the case, I guess I have three, not two!

RA and Type 1 Diabetes

DeidreI have RA,Fibro (is that autoimmune?) and Asthmaasthma is not listed as an autoimmune diseaseHmmm I was told asthma was.  Weirdness.  I will ask my doc next time I see him.  All I know is that it popped up adult onset along with the RA.

This is the list recognized by the American Autoimmune Related Disease Association

Hashimoto's thyroid, RA, vasculitis, raynauds. The last three were all dx in the last 2 months. Hope I'm done but they are still testing.

It all depends on who you talk to about asthma and whether or not it is included as an autoimmune disorder.

Check out this list from the American Auto-Immune Related Diseases Association:

Me ... just RA and asthma, but autoimmune seems all over my dad's family.  New geneology research on my dad's side shows generations of arthritis, but not known if it's RA or OA.

Dad:  OA (which I didn't know was autoimmune, but is on the AARDA.org list)
Cousin:  MS
2nd Cousin:  Crohn's
Uncle:  diabetes

On my mom's side:
Grandfather:  psoriasis
Grandmother: diabetes
Aunt and her daughter:  early onset OA

Sometimes I think I picked out my husband because he has celiac disease.  Heck, as two autoimmune affected folks, we're kindered souls!

(And to make it fun, my dad has heomochromotosis, and I'm a carrier!)

RA, PA, and ITP.  I am done, I just refuse to have another one!!

If only we could understand the nature the human immune system and how to turn it down, without turning it off!

RA ONLY!! Unless high blood pressure is one.?? Interesting.

I forgot a couple to, after reading all the posts it reminded me, not sure thats a good thing  I am in need of information from those of you who have been diagnosed with some type of thyroid condition. I have RA and Fibro and have recently been having other problems; sweating a lot and freezing on top, fatigue, rapid heart rate, and a general feeling of being unwell, also weight gain, lots of weight. Do these symptions sound like a thyroid problem to you. I have has 2 thyroid tests but both have come out normal. All my tests have come out normal but I still do not feel good.

Any thoughts? Thanks Tracy.
It could be thyroid related. There are two levels of thyroid tests out there although I'm not familiar with the differences. I think in your case seeing and endocrinologist might help you get it nailed down better. If not that, then a doctor specializing in autoimmune diseases. You can get those symptoms from RA and FM and the meds like Pred. But if you instincts as suggesting thyroid, I would pursue it further. I do know that some people believe that borderline results on thyroid bloodwork can still indicate problems, that's why getting to a specialist might get you better answers.  And why did you have to list asthma and endometriosis? Add at least 2 more for me and they are testing for diabetes and AS. I think I am just autoimmune and don't forget MCTD (Mixed Connective Tissue Disease). Or could it be MS? That question and the neuropathy still beg an answer.
I just think I have an overactive immune system. If we could get that turned down or off, I think I would get well. And, I think stress puts it in overdrive, so if I could learn to control that, I think my health would significantly improve. I just want to be well.
Hi fuzz,
I have just had every thyroid test under the sun I'm sure. There are blood tests, ultra sounds, ct scans, and uptake scans. So it really depends what test you have as to what result you get. My blood tests were normal but all the other tests showed 50% over active, and they labeled it Grave's disease. Trembling, sweating and meds not working! But still they don't want to treat me for over active, beats me why. So if you think you have thyroid problems and they aren't listening, ask them to do a different type of test.
Hope this helps.

Sigh,

Endometriosis counts? That makes five for me too.

I guess I'm lucky. Three is my number.  Let's hope it stays there. I'm due for another visit to my Rheumatologist on Friday, been having a few weird things this last couple of weeks, but think it's probably related to the changes in weather, coming into Autumn here now.

Sero Negative RA, Polymyalgia Rheumatica & Osteoporosis.

Oh - and forgot about Carpal Tunnel symptoms returning.

Not a very happy camper!!

Take Care
Hi Jennee,
I have a product that it is a microbiological compound, a phytonutrient that actually penetrates the mitrochondria or the nucleus of the cell. It is an all natural substance that inhibits COX-2 & can assist to regulate & balance the immune system of the body which when not in order causes various illnesses.Perhaps you can contact me via my email address. MTX is a drug used in chemotherapy as you might know it can destroy the liver within 6 months & people using MTX should have consistant blood tests to monitor liver function. I now have total mobility back throughout my body using this all natural product that has a broard spectrum of usages. Hear from you soon.

Endometriosis too!  I also saw Restless Leg on one of those lists.  So now, that makes:

RA, Hashimoto's, Asthma, Endometriosis, Restless Leg Syndrome.
