Hello, Update on Sam...I'm having a hard time explaining to Haley why someone would poison our family dog. Haley is ten. Sam was three. I expected Sam to be around thoughout Haley's teenage years, maybe longer. Instead I'm having to help her come to grips with Sams death plus another neighborhood dog who usually slept in our yard.

Jessie was an affectionate hound dog who roamed the neighborhood but had attached himself to Haley.

When coming home from telling Sam goodbye the only thing Haley wanted to do was hug Jessie, but Jessie was'nt home. He wass'nt at the local business where he hung out. When we found him he was sick too. The vets found he had been poisoned, and had to be down as well.

Haley is trying to make something positive out of her grief. Some states have laws requiring manufacturers place a bitte tasting substanse in antifreeze: she hopes to see this change made in our state. Mostly she just wants her two canine friends back.

She's just heartbroken.

We have filed a police report. Posted a reward for info sign..Had an article ran in our local paper.

Haley is still taking an anti inflammatory for her joint pain and swelling, and I'm still on my daily and weekly meds. By the grace of God I have'nt gone into a flare.

I wanted to post a picture of Sam and Haley on here, and can't figure it out. I have a picture of Sam at kodakgallery.com

if you would like to see him. Ginni

Ginni

Ginni,  I am soooooooooooo sorry no one responded to this post.  It is so painful to lose a pet.  My heart was broken recently having my Yorkie eat a exotic fish and die from poisoning.  I have been in my own drama it is true.  I just want you to know there are a lot of animal lovers on here that can feel your pain.  I think there have been so many threads lately and people out of town with spring break - that sadly you did not get the support you deserve.

I had two cats poisoned which was devastating.  How can people be so evil?  I am so protective of my animals because there are so many people who just don't like animals

I wish I could tell you how to post but I have forgotten.  You have to put it on one of those photo sites and download it.  I hope someone helps you out.  Sometimes I have copy and pasted photo on here and it worked but most times it doesn't.

Again, my heart goes out to you.  Losing a pet is losing family.  Don't ever be afraid to share your sorrows here.  The majority of people here are the best people you could ever meet Ginni...I am so sorry Haley is having a hard time coming to grips with this.  I hope her grief eases soon.  When I told my family about this, they were horrified and angered that someone would do this to an animal.

Maybe help Haley contact your local state rep. about passing a law to put a bitter taste in anti freeze.  Also, maybe you could help her start a campaign to inform people on the dangers of anti freeze to animals and also encourage that people buy the animal safe anti freeze.  You might also try petitioning local businesses to sell only the animal safe anti freeze.  Then boycott those that turn you down.

Even my teens walked around for 2 days wondering how someone can be so cruel to animals and do this to one.  Unfortunately, that is something that Haley will have to find her own answer to in her own time.  Just be there for her when she is having a bad time.

Upload your pic of Sam to photobucket.com.  Then in the reply window here on AI, click on the little picture of the tree and that opens a new window for you.  Copy and paste the html tag from photobucket into the new window on AI.  Make sure you check your tag after you copy and pasted it that it does not have the double http in it or the pic won't post.  I look forward to seeing a pic of him!

Again...I am so sorry this happened to your family and my heart goes out to all of you.

I'm sorry about Sam and Jessi and for what this is doing to your little girl and yourself. I do not understand the cruelty and selfishness in this world. I hope you find your way to the healing of your hearts.
