I am using Methotrexate 7.5mg per week/enbrel twice a week and prednisone 1mg a day and folic acid since late December 2004. Since March 2005 I have been doing really well most of my pain is gone and a feel great 90% of the time. I have Arthritis that is caused by Infammatory Bowel disease. In the last couple of months I have noticed more acne on my body. This past week (3) turned into boils and were very painful..they are healing now. My doctor tells me to try stopping the medication for 2 weeks and maybe start on a lower dose or new medication. Has anyone had this happen? Did your acne go away or did you have to change medication.

Hi Maria. Welcome. I read on one of the other subject threads about the acne problem. I think it was the mtx thread. Anyway, I will check back and see who wrote that. I am so sorry to hear you are having problems with meds. Sometimes the side effects are as frustrating or even more so than the ra itself. My rheumy told me I will probably GET Inflammatory Bowel disease because of the ra. Wierd huh. Anyhow, I am glad you came here. I learned a lot when I first came on board reading past subjects. Give it a try and check back here. I do remember someone got acne from mtx also as I have been concerned about side effects from mtx. It is not unusual to happen ask the dr about an alternative to the mtx you might have better results. meme
