A question for all those who have successfully conceived after using MTX. i hear the recommended time off MTX is 6 months. what have you guys taken whilst you were off medication?Hi Mushy101,
Perhaps you can contact me via my email address. I am currenty drinking an all natural product which is a COX-2 inhibitor as well as inhibiting Prostaglandin at PGE2 & have had tremendous results. MTX is a drug used in chemotherapy as you might know it can destroy the liver within 6 months & people using MTX should have consistant blood tests to monitor liver function. I now have total mobility back throughout my body using this all natural product that has a broard spectrum of usages & no problems taking whilst pregnant. Hear from you soon.
Yours in health,
Durocell. are you on any other medications?  Maybe you could go on a low dose of prednisone? My doctor said 3 months to me. Maybe some docs. are more
conservative?

And low dose of pred. was also suggested to me.Mushy101 - Be sure to ask your OB/GYN about anything that you decide to take while pregnant, even if it is "natural."

My doctor had me wean slowly off the MTX so it wouldn't be a shock to my system (which could spark a flare).  It took me approx. 3 months to wean off, then I had to wait an additional 3 months before I could try to get pg.  Apparently MTX can stay in your system for up to 3 months.

I also weaned off Enbrel, but because that only stays in your system for about 2 weeks, I didn't start weaning off that until I was off the MTX.

It took me over a year to conceive. Throughout the year trying to conceive, and my actual pregnancy, I took 5 mg a day of prednisone.  My RA was a non-issue during the pregnancy.

As soon as I had my daughter, I flared and went back on the MTX and Enbrel.  I am happy to say that it took me less than a year to get back into remission.

Best of luck to you,

Teresa
