No not really

I am 42, ws born in the UK, immigrated to South Africa when I was 12, loved to scuba dive, wind sail and water ski .Developed RA symptoms in teenage years but it went away and came back after birth of first child.I was badly bitten by a tick and went through horrible fevers so thought my RA was lymes disease. I married Barry ( hes from uk too) in South Africa and we had 3 lovely kiddies, samantha is 18, michael is 15 and nicole is 13.We moved back to UK and been here since.I was officially dx ten years ago, was a naughty girl and didnt take it seriously and didnt take my meds but realised this was no joke.tried all meds possible

Thats me

Hi pin cushion. It's so nice to meet you. You seem familiar some how. I hope you enjoy your time with us. There are some really nice people on this board that have helped me through some really touch times. It's good to meet you.

Welcome Pin!

I did giggle after reading stuff that ticked me off. Thanks!

Hello pin, nice to  meet you! You remind me of a friend I had, who used to hunt ferrets...

Well, it's nice to have a new face, hope you find lots of great info on this board! I know it's been a great help to me! :)

Hi Pin....glad to meet you. Do you have a twin? lol

How's the weather and family in the UK? Stick around there are lots of awesome peoples here.

Hugs,

Nini

Welcome to the board!  I am having some sort of a de ja vu-ish sense with you.  Must be from a past life or something like that.  That Pin had a fear of ferrets tho.  Do you?  LOL!  I loves yas girlie you know that!

Fresh starts are wonderful.  We have done that 2x in real life and they are refreshing.

I *almost* went to South Africa when I worked for AOL (don't hate me cuz I worked there please people!).  I didn't get to go because my dang knee decided it needed another surgery or it wasn't going to let me walk anymore.  Thankfully that didn't happen in South Africa lol.  I wanted to go soooooooooooo badly tho.  We would have been on the ocean and oh after living in AZ the ocean is wonderful lol.  Plus it would have been a chance in a lifetime to go somewhere I prolly will never get to go to.  But I did have other things come up at work that were great for me too.

Welcome to the board!

I have a similar story to your RA story... yes, we were both naughty girls and should have listened to those "bad" dr's with the oh so scary foreign objects known as needles

So thanks Pin!

Pin, I have a question for you. Why did you not take your RA seriously? I am
curious because I sort of don't take mine seriously thinking that maybe it
will never get worse. But it seems that by reading many posts, RA always
gets worse. Can you describe the progression of your RA?

Yay!

Now you are new like me.

Pleased to meet you!

Nelly

Lorster- I read up on RA when I first got it as I knew nothing about it at all, I must admit I was in agony at first but all my symptoms went away so being a " i know better than you" person with regards to doctors, i thought they had it wrong. I went for 2 years ignoring all the signs and pushing myself, thinking i will outrun the pains etc but thats not the brave thing to do at all.Now I am in serious trouble with the RA. The damage has been done to my joints and can not be repaired. It went from being a swollen little finger joint, pains in my shins.these came and went for months .To full disability now. It doesnt always happen to everyone so please dont let me scare you , this is just my story.
