Been lurking | Arthritis Information

I've been lurking here for quite a while. I'm not so sure that I want to post or even join in the discussion here. There seems to be an awful lot of nit-picking and nastiness that takes the place of good, informative discussion. Is it always like this? I don't really need any added stress, RA is stressful enough.

SarahSome days I just lurk here and I've been a member for a year. I post when I think I have something worth saying, but mostly I just read. It is not always like this and if you have a specific concern you can type the subject into the search engine if you don't want to post. But welcome.

DeidreHi Sarah,
Lots of good stuff here!  I've really found this forum to be a great source of information and support.  As with any community, there are interesting interactions that develop, and we just have to chose the level in which we want to participate.  Please join us, we can always use more viewpoints and support for RA!

Welcome to the board and gald you are posting.  No, it is NOT always like this.  Sometimes I think the stress just builds up and *poof* it all goes up at once and then things calm down.

Please post any questions that you may have.  You will find a lot of caring and supportive people here.

Thank you all very much. I don't have very many questions, I've had RA for 9 years. I'm looking for support and information. I'm not sure if this board is the right place for me yet. We will see.

Sarah

It's not for everyone....but at times it's a great place for all.

Welcome to AI.

Mmmhmm. Even with the mess I stick around, because I know eventually it'll settle down again and everyone will be lovie dovie like normal. LOL i joined this site in 2001, and had to rejoin it awhile back.i don't post much but do lurk here. most of the old timmers are gone from back then. we had a few fights but always got over them.a few of us still have a chat room to stay together.i never say anything bad about anyone on here.its a good site to learn about ra from and u should give it a try.

I'm very new to this board and joined to find out information about new ideas about drugs, helpful hints and what other people were taking to fight this nasty stuff, I've found out sooo much.  So, good luck on searching for what you are after here.

also, Sarah

Whether you stay here or go to another site, I highly recommend finding a support system for dealing with all this. AI has been invaluable to me as the last few months have been filled with so much difficulty. There are wonderful characters on here and you have the opportunity to get to know people in very different circumstances with something we all have in common  -- RA. Welcome Sarah.  I hope you will stick around - there is a lot of support and information to be gained here.Sarah,

I've been lurking too. The Arthritis foundation has a good forum. I post there frequently. The people are very nice and there is not a bunch of drama, most of the time.

Lynn

Lynn, I have gotten so many good ideas there. Yes no drama. I needed to apply for SSDI and I got excellent advice there, it made things so much easier.

Karen

Sarah,

I've lurked and posted on and off here for quite a while... I tend to just skip over the arguments, not to be mean but because I have six children and that is quite enough fighting in my life ;)

It's a good place to get questions answered or to help others.  Just read what is useful to you and ignore what is not and wait for the storms to blow over.
Sarah,

look past the drama and the fighting, and you will see a lot of good people who mean well. I've been on this board for quite a long time. There have been a few tiffs. They blow over. It really isn't usually like this. I have learned so much here.

In time, you will learn that there are a lot of arthritis forums out there. Some of them are big, like this one. Others are niche forums, where you can settle in, really get to know people, and find a home. Many of us (including me) join forums like that.

Welcome!
WELCOME SARAH!!!!
