does anyone know the connection between vicodin and thyroid problems. my dr took me off naproxen and vicodin . i am still in pain from fusion and tendinitis. No, I hav enever heard of that. Does anyone have anymore info??? I take vicodin and I have Thyroid probs???thanks daisy. i know i should have asked, but i wasn't thinking straight at the time. also he put me on a water pill because i have gained so much weight in two months and swelling. i don't think vicodin causes weight gain.or swelling. i go to him on friday so i guess i will find out more.

Please let me know what you find out!!! Good luck I know so many people in the RA section take vicodin and have Thyroid probs.

Thanks,

Karen

the only relationship I am aware of is not a cause and effect fomr the vicodin side but rather from the thyroid side. Thyroid probs can sometimes affect how we perceive pain. Usually it lowers the pain threshold.

This might require pain relievers like vicodin be used sooner but since pain is relative I doubt a lower treshold really matters in terms of how much pain reliever people need. It all would depend on how well a given pain reliever works for each individual.

Otherwise I have never read anything about opiates affecting thyroid function. Remember our bodies naturally produce opioids to control pain which is why external opiates are generally well tolerated by people as long as the meds are used properly.
