I noticed the last few days I have been having slight shaking in my hands and legs. When my limbs are at rest there is no shaking but when I lift something like a glass of water, my left hand shakes a little. Or if I bend down my legs will shake slightly. Can this be attributed to the 15 mgs/week of MTX and 15mg/day of Prednisone? Is this something I should have a my primary doctor check out or my rheumy?

I hope it is not parkinsons.

thanks guys!

I have had similar symptons.  For me, I think it's just part of the RA experience, since it seems to come and go.  By all means have it checked though.

MMhmm. When I'm bad off I shake too. I think a lot of us do. I hope some people with more experience will post more for you!!!

I should have added that I did go to a neurologist early this year and had a thorough checkup including an MRI.  So I'm not suggesting you shouldn't have it checked out thoroughly.  There's a good chance though that it's just part of the RA symptoms.

Talk to your rheumy or pcp about your tremors.  I have them from all the meds I am on.  What you experience are called active tremors since they only happen when you are using your hands and they don't happen when your hands are at rest.  I check with a neurologist might be a good thing for you.

My orginal rheumy said neurological responses are not normal for RA so he sent me to a neurologist who did nerve conduction studies etc.  I ended up testing negative for everything - but it all went away on AP anyway.  Get the nerve tests, please.  They will rule out a bunch of things which can only bring more peace of mind.

After my heart operation I had so much pain in my arms, shoulders and neck I was screaming. I was convinced it was 'nerve damage' they did during the operation, but you know what, after getting to take Prednisone, MTX and remicade ALL the pains went away.  So, now I wonder if it was ALL this nasty RA, and never to do with my 'operation'. The heart/valve has healed, the incision is perfect, no additional problems surrounding the left side or anything anymore....I even swung the golf club, did aerobics class and my art group!!

it was always RA, I just couldn't be treated because they wanted the heart area to heal!!

Hey zeekman,

I use to get the tremors too when I was on 15mg of pred. But since I dropped down I do not have them that much now; only if I have a lot of inflammation going on, which for me seems to be almost all the time.

I would mention it to your RD, maybe there is something he can do for ya.

Best Wishes.

thanks you guys! I see my rheumy on thursday, so I will ask her about this. Glad to hear its not just me who has the shaking. I went down to 10mg of Prednisone so mabye that will stop it.

I also was on nexium for a few days for some throat/acid reflux problems. I read that it can cause tremors.

Amazingly, the throat problems went away without the nexium! One good story from all the crap!!

I will check with a neurologist too. It can't hurt.

I get bad tremors when I'm on pred. I already have Beniegn Essential Tremor and pred exacerbates it.
