Vicki,

In which state do you live?? You said you were in er. If you were a California girl, your release paper state that you can  (or must) be seen by a doctor with in 72 hours. I believe that works for specialist also. If you do not already have an appointment or can't get in a timely manner-might try that angle. Also my best advise, early on, came from Web-MD and Mayo Clinic web site. Hope that helps. I know the pain and the noknowing gives you (and it did me) a real sense of pantic, but you are going to be fine--you just need to get to the right doctor and the right drugs. And you will.

Vicki,

Make sure you ask for blood test with your sed rate..you really need to know that..and the headaches and eye pain--two things I have not had to deal with, but that's only me..

Let us know what he say- but I have found you must be proactive

Lonna

Hi Vicki...I noticed that in your lab work your c-reactive protein was elevated.  That is a sign of inflammation and could be further proof of pmr.  I agree w/Lonna that you  shd have a sed rate done also for confirmation.  I hope your dr will do that today and also set you up w/a rheumatologist.  Please be sure to tell him about the headache and vision problems as one of the serious complications of PMR is GCA which can cause permanent blindness if not diagnose as soon as possible.   This is all scarey stuff, isn't it...and so very painful.  Some people seem to be able to handle going to work once they are on a prednisone dose that lowers the pain but it has taken me about 6months to feel half way decent and I think the afternoon fatigue wd just do me in if I were trying to hold down a job.  But then I am pretty old anyway...71.  I hope all goes well for you today...you are in my thoughts and prayers.  Please keep in touch with the board...everyone is so helpful and supportive!Vicky ...if your eyes are involved you need to see a reumatologist  NOW!  Don;t want to set off a panic but it is of the utmost importance . He may suggest a temporal biopsy to confirm GCA and will put you on a high dose of prednisone for a while to reduce the inflammation. you do not want to risk going blind!

hi everyone

the dr put me on 30mg of prednisone today and i got a appointment with a rheumatologist on the 30th of april the dr said my sed rate is all over the map up then low he think the horseness is from the pmr too the pain is letting up some but i look like i got a sun burn and the fatigue is petty big but i'm going back to work tomorrow my paper is over flowing my desk the sgt. said in courts going up for some inportment cases we have going so i have to get back

thank you for everything

vicki
