hi...relatively new here and i'm really not used to this pain i have. so, i'm just complaining, i guess. please tell me to stop if it annoys anyone.

here's where i hurt now: my left jaw...it's weird, like i can't close my mouth. both thumbs and wrists...my right shoulder. both knees are killing me. if...and i do mean if i can get to sleep, when i awaken, the pains can be in different locations.

there...got it off my chest.

thanks!

I'm new here as well...and have not been dx'd yet...but I feel your pain. I hate the way it moves around on you. I told my husband it was like a radio tower blinking light warning planes it exists!

On-off, on-off...it is so frustrating.  I am waiting on my 1st appt with Rheumy - May 3rd.

I started having flu like symptoms in Janurary. After 5 weeks, I began to realize something else was wrong. My blood work came back negative for RA & Lupus. Had carpal tunnel feelings in both wrists. Had nerve conduction tests done and sure enough, both wrists and elbow had carpal tunnel. Ortho thinks it's due to inflammation because after beginning prednisone symptoms went away 75 %. He is curious to know what RA thinks.

So now I am waiting...

Blessed39187.9525115741HI Elliott, sorry you are in pain, howsabout I'll share and be in pain with you except it's daytime here in Oz, but couldn't sleep last night due to pain!!!  Anyways at present, right toes, foot, hip, shoulder, elbow, left foot, knee, wrist, both fingers and thumbs, neck.  You get to the point where you don't believe it yourself!!!!!  Best wishes and I hope you get some sleep. Janie.

Hi Elliott, I'm so sorry you are in such pain tonight. Don't ever feel like you are annoying anyone. That is what we're here for.

Jane and Blessed, I'm sorry for your pain, as well.

Nighttime is the worst in my opinion. It seems like the world is sleeping peacefully and you are alone, awake and in pain!

You are always welcome to sign on and vent. If you are hurting, there is always someone here to share your pain. Sometimes, just knowing you are not alone can help a bit.

Hope you all feel better very soon. My thoughts are with you.

Gentle hugs,

Nini

Elliot:

I understand how it feels right now. I keep a jar of Blue Relief on the night-stand for such nights when the pain wakes me or keeps me from sleeping. It's kinda spendy at -/jar but it seems you do not need to use a lot, it works fast and usually gives me 30-45 mins of relief to fall asleep.

I have also gotten pretty much instant relief from using pure Imu oil. But that is actually kinda greasy feeling. Dunno what the emu oil does but it really helps me. I even made a mixture of my regular hand loation with emu oil and bit eucalyptus oil which works pretty well, but not as well as the blue stuff.

No matter what I find that a topical gel/cream/lotion can help bridge the gap between pain med doses or while waiting for the pain meds to kick in...

I have found the Blue Relief/Blue Emu or whatever name they offer at WalMart, Longs & WalGrens for around -/jar. A jar lasts me about a month or a bit longer depending on how often I am using it.

For me the interruption of sleep has been the most destructive part of RA. So dude I hear yah big time...

I do VERY occasionally use another therapy every now and then. Even though it is legal by CA law we still cannot buy it legally. A shame because when things get really bad this helps better then anything. So for now we stick to the Tx's that "Old Lady Grundy" approves of...

it gets lots of press down here

Jeanne,

If you are allergic to wheat, you could try making a rice sock - stuffing an old sock with rice and sewing it up - pretty effective.

Ugh sorry to hear you are in so much pain.  Is it possible to call your pcp and get something so you can sleep?

Also, a hot bath before bed can work wonders too.  Put some lavender in it and it is so soothing and relaxing.

Dear Elliott, I'm so sorry you are in pain. SarahYeah, pain sucks. And pain which moves around can just drive you nuts. When I go to the doc and they ask where my pain is, I always hesitate. It's a different place all the time. Even the big joints move around.

Your jaw pain sounds like TMJ. RA and FM can affect jaw pain. Talk to your Rheumy about it and possibly your dentist. You might want to post a separate thread on that because I know others have that problem and they might have suggestions that would help.

Unfortunately pain is like an elevated temp. in that it's worse at night. Sorry you've been having such a difficult time with the pain.  YOU GO AHEAD AND VENT FOR WE'VE ALL BEEN THERE AND DONE THAT!! *()*&
