Yesterday we took Danielle in for cortisone shots in both her wrists.  Her hands and wrists were actually worse Sunday and she has gotten very little sleep lately because of the pain.  She did excellent with the injections!!!  As soon as the lidocaine hit from the first injection (just about immediately) she was holding out her hand for the other one lol.

The highlight of the day was that my doc offered to come to my home and do the injections if Danny could not get off of work and come and take her in to the office.  He didn't want to wait til Wednesday to do them (he is off on Tuesdays).  I was speechless.  And ya'all know me, Im NEVER speechless lol.  Danny was able to come home (we are 10 minutes away from his work) and they gave him a vacation day to boot when he told them why he had to leave.  We really didn't know what to say to our doc except to thank him profusely for his offer and tell him what a great caring person he is.  He just kinda shrugged and said I like it when people feel better.  Especially kids.

I got sooooooooo lucky when I picked him.  And it was purely luck.  I picked him because I thought his name was funny and he HAD to be a nice person.  His name...get this...is Tim Allen LOL!!!!  And yes, he does have an excellent sense of humor.

Danielle is doing well today and could move her fingers this morning which she has not been able to do for a couple of weeks.  YAY!  She is very excited and happy over this.  She also was able to sleep last night.  She has an easy day in school today.  Gone for most of it for a field trip where she will be sitting for most of the day.

Everything is finally catching up to me like we thought it would and I am exhausted, stressed, and flaring.  I need a pred pack now to stomp out my flare lol.  I am no good to Danielle if I am laying on the couch miserable.  So it's a call to the rheumy for a pred pack for me.  Danny is still having difficulties handling everything and our doc upped his anti-depressant from 50mgs to 100mgs.  Poor guy.  He had enough to handle and worry about with me.  Now let's throw his baby and buddy in the mix with the same disease.  They are still going to go paintball this weekend for the season opener.  Free admission and I think either gun rental or ammo.  It is something for both of them to look forward to.  And it shows Danielle how to continue on with life as usual.

Whew, what a day yesterday!  But a good one!  I know the injections are just a band-aid to get her thru til the rheumy appointment in May.  But it is better than nothing at all!  She is so happy and won't stop hugging me over this.  And yeah, I bawled like a baby right after she left for her crossing patrol duties this morning (with gloves lol).

Liz im sooo happy that the injections seem to be helping. How is she feeling otherwise?  Dont forget to take care of you also.  I know how hard it is to do that when are "babies" are hurting and sick but like you said you are no good to her on the couch misirable (though im sure you are you just dont see it).  She, and the rest of your girls are so lucky to have you as a mom.  What a wonderful doctor she has!  Hope her hands and wrists are feeling better!

Your family sounds soooo wonderful and what a great doc!!!!!. I am so glad the shots helped her. How brave of her too, they can be painful. Now you need to take a day break from alll your worry, enjoy that she is feeling better and your hubbie will feel better too. Men have such a hard time they can feel so helpless, they need to be able to FIX things and this they can"t

Enjoy the day and get your pred!!!!

It's so hard when our babies are hurting. We'd take every pain from them and put it on ourselves, if we could.

It sounds like you've got strong girls, and a strong family. You're all in my thoughts and prayers!

Sounds like really good progress! This is great.Wonderful news!!!  I am glad the injections helped and the doctor sounds wonderful!!  If only they were all so caring! You do have a wonderful Dr. and that can mean all the difference!  It's geat to hear that Danielle is feeling better.I have just logged in this morning and read your sooooooo special post.  What an amazingly positive little girl!  With an amazing Mum & Dad!!  And an amazing Dr!!  It's wonderful to know too that she had such a good experience with her first injections. She must have been so scared. I think this has been the most uplifting post I have ever read on here.

This must be such a difficult time for you and all your family, I don't under-rate that at all.  Was it William Wordworth who said "My greatest glory is not in never falling, but never failing to rise"???  Something like that anyway - but you'll get my drift.

God Bless and prayers for you all

I'm so glad the injections helped! Bless her heart. Hopefully she'll be able to continue to get relief until the rheumy appt..

She sounds like a strong, brave little girl. Makes me feel like a big weinie, when little kids handle these things so much better than I do

You sound like a wonderful Mom. I know how hard it is to see your kids in pain. Be sure you take care of yourself, too.

God Bless you and your family!

Hugs,

Nini

Nice to read that your daughter is feeling a little better.  It's the pits to feel like this when you are older, but when you are so young it's horrible.I'm hoping the inj last all summer for her.

That's awesome you have a good doc!!! Wish I did!  Your daughter sounds like a tough little booger!! lol

I'm a hoping and praying you both get to feeling better and stay that way

I am so glad to hear that Danielle is doing better.  What a brave little girl.  I think we need to find a way to clone that doctor of yours!  I hope you feel better soon, Liz.

Liz, that is fabulous news!  I'm so glad you found a truly great doctor and that Danielle has done so well with the injections!!  I know this is tough on her and on you and on Danny...give him time, he needs to process it all over again.

And don't overdo it and end up on the couch...but I am sure if you do, you are still a help to her because the most important help is the love and support you give!

Hi, I'm so glad that you found a fantastic doctor, and Danielle is so very brave. We definitely forget our pain when our little ones hurt. Since Haley's swelling and pain has started, I just keep on going just like you. We live in Tennessee and there is a serious shortage of rheumatologist that will see kids. My own won't even make an exception. We will be taking her to Vanderbilt in Nashville, but not til June...seems like a long time. In the meantime the doc is giving her naproxen and pred. I saw the pictures you posted. Danielle's hands really looked like they needed those injections. I'm so glad she feels better. Hand pain is so bad. I would post pictures of Haley's but, as you know I can't figure out how to post pics.LOL I will continue to keep you guys in my prayers. Ginni

P.S. Is Danielle sero positive or negative?

Glad she is doing better since the injections. And you want me to talk to her, are you crazy?! I would have talked her out of injections because as you know there is a little, shiney, metal foreign object involved

Ok... it just dawned on me why I am afraid of needles... maybe I was abducted by aliens at one time and they used a lot of "probbing" insturments??? Hey! If that did happen maybe that would explain a lot of things about me

I hope they last her until her appt in May.

Huggs

Thank you to everyone!  We all appreciate everyones well wishes for her and for us.  We will make it thru this.  We do not know yet if she is sero negative or positive.  We find out with first rheumy appt.

I tell ya, it's one thing emotionally for me to have RA, but it's a whole new ballgame when it is one of your kids.

One of the guys that Danny works with prays for me in one of his prayer groups.  I told Danny to have him add Danielle to that.  She needs the prayers way more than I do.

Oh and I ended up not needing a pred pack.  I was flaring and I'm all great...stress...now I get to stay up all night on pred and get the dang munchies!  But it ended up that it RAINED this morning before I called the doc office and I'm fine now lol.  I need to be a weather forecaster.  They said no rain today lol.  Me bones said you peeps are WRONG!  LOL!  I am exhausted and pushing myself lately.  But I gotta do what I gotta do.  Danielle is sleeping now (it's 930pm here and she has been asleep for a good hour or so) as she had a very exciting field trip today and is just exhausted.  I was easy on her with chores today too.  I knew she was exhausted.  She said to her daddy when he called to check on her at his lunch that everything but her hands ache today.  We are chalking it up to the field trip today.  Lots of screaming and yelling going on for that one lol.  I am hoping to make it til Danny gets home at 1120 tonite lol.

Once again, thank you to everyone.  Your support these last days is much appreciated and invaluable to me.  This really is a great bunch of people.
