Joint question?? | Arthritis Information

I was feeling stressed because one finger went suddenly, totally numb which kind of freaked me out since there seemed to be no reason for it. It finally started to come back after an hour so I decided to go for a very short walk since it was nice out and would help me relax. My joints in my feet swelled very dramatically. I have had a lot of joint pain but only occasional mild swelling. Is this going to happen every time I try to do anything? I know it is nothing at all compared to what you all go through every day, but it is getting kind of hard for me to stay in denial with all this! LOL! (no, it was not the hand they stuck the needle through that went numb). I think I'll just go to bed. It's safe there!

No, this does not happen all the time when you want to do something.  You still sound like either you are flaring or out of control with the RA.  Don't ever minimize your pain ever!!!  Pain is pain no matter where it is or how little or how much it is.

Sometimes, things just go numb for no apparent reason.  It is probably the inflammation causing that.  I love to freak out my girls when a finger goes numb with sticking a needle in one and gimping around the house after them waving it in their faces lol.  Oooooo gotta get revenge on those kids sometimes lol.

Hang in there!  Get those swollen feet and ankles up!  Read a good book or watch a movie.  Try some ice if you can stand it.  Feel better soon!

Thanks for the encouragment. I feel better this morning. I missed all last summer because I was so sick and fatigued and I was so disappointed when I swelled up with only a two block walk today. I have a lot to learn about this yet. It is hard to find the time for everything. My neuro put me on naproxen and may increase the immuran and pred. Hopefully that will calm things. He said it is not under control yet. I have challenged my kids to stick a pin in my foot- it grosses them out! ha ha.

LOL!  Someone else who likes to gross their kids out too!  I love doing that.  I am glad you are feeling better this morning.  That is great!

I know how you can be disappointed.  It really sucks when you want to go out and do something and bammo swelling strikes!  I missed all of last fall/winter because of the RA and a damaged nerve.  I had and still have toes that I swear are there for decoration only lol.  I can walk again with my cane and Lyrica has been the magic pill for me to get back on my feet again without crutches.

Hang in there! Hopefully they wil reign in the beast and get it under control quickly!
