Dear  All,
When I was first diagnosed with PMR dec05, I used this web site quite a lot to just write down my feelings and it was soooo good to know other people felt the same. Then on really bad days, I did not even have the motivation to look, write or read. Then I left it for a while as I found that there were few really good stories of people feeling better.

Is this because not many feel good, or is it because there full life takes over and there is no time, and they want to forget PMR.

I feel good.  2 weeks ago, a very momentous day, I cleaned 2 bathrooms, had a rest for an hour, and then did the shopping and did not feel so tired that i wanted to leave the trolley and just go home and cry. WOW I say.

1 week ago I woke at 6 am  2 days in a row and took the dog for a 1 hr walk. I think the old me is returning. Yesterday I painted walls for 4 hrs, today I minded my grandson and cooked dinner and felt OK, but yes a little sore, but really only muscle pain, not PMR.

I do not have that overwhelming fatigue. 2 wonderful weeks!! Magic secrets, i do not think so. 2 weeks ago I lowered the Methotrexate from 30mgms  to 25mgms IMI (consult with  rheum) and  and I have been on 4 1/2 mgms Prednisolone for about 6 weeks. And yes I do not drink alcohol while on meth......hanging out for a red wine or a beer!

Keep your fingers crossed for me and I will let you know of more good news.          Zali

Good for you, happy for you,,just don't overdo it, take life a bit easier, I have been off pred. for 4 months, feeling much better, getting acupunture for neck problems, I too am not experiencing fatigue and have managed to travel and planning on doing more.  Thank God for this panel, others on here have helped me get over some very bad days.  Hoping to hear continued good news from you..raise a glass for me.

glad you are feeling better. yes don;t overdo it. Be active but in moderation.

is  Prednisolone  the same as  prednisone? are the mgs the same?

I googled prednisone prednisolone and saw that it is the same. Visit http://ratguide.com/meds/endocrine_hormones/prednisone_predn isolone.php In Sweden we usually say Prednisol.

Hi Zali...thank you for sharing such good news!  It can get discouraging sometimes because we are all having such a rough time so when someone like you takes the time to write some encouraging words once you are feeling better it truly helps.  I was diagnosed in Sept 06...am going down to 6mg tomorrow and feel I might be on my way  to seeing the light at the end of the tunnel...just a lot of fatigue at the end of the day.  Take care...and thank you again for the good news! It's always good to hear of improvements Zali.  Gives us all encouragement and hope, and helps to focus on the positives. Any little achievement is good news, so keep sharing.  It's great!!

I will add a little bit of good news.

This desease will go away guys! For some it will take a little longer than others. And if it comes back you can handle it because it is so much less painfull than the first time.

My first bout was awfull wanted to die and than when it went away after 2 years ...I felt reborn and picked up where I left off 2 years prior. Everyday is now a treat .I appreciate life so much more now.

Second bout I handled with a very low dose of pred but when the headaches came back because of the pressure the pred puts in your head ...decided to see if aleve would do the the trick and it does . 2 aleves at night and in the AM I am fine.

So to all of you who think this is the end of your life as you knew it....it is temporary. (yes I did not believe it when my doc said"it will go away' but it did.)  How can anything last that long and than go away?! It is the nuttiest desease ever!

Marianne,

Glad to hear that someone else had the PMR go away. Mine lasted almost 5 years before it went away. I am hoping that it doesn't ever come back, but nice to hear from someone who's been there that it isn't as bad the second time around and that over the counter pain killers work. Thanks for sharing.
