Mark and I were able to have a lovely getaway to Gettysburg WITHOUT the kiddies for 4 days last week.

Had a wonderful suite in the Hampton Inn (WITH a fireplace and whirlpool!)

What is so great about this is I was scheduled to get my Remicade on Tuesday, but I was feeling pretty good so I called and had it rescheduled for yesterday.

Without the Remicade I was able to walk all over the battle fields, even climb up on little Round Top, and the area where Killpatricks cavalry was stationed..which was a lot of uphill wooded climbing and then clambering up rocks.

The next day we went antiquing, so we wandered through at least 10 shops, and that included going up and down stairs.

We got home Thursday night, then left again Friday afternoon this time with the kids for 2 days at Niagara Falls. At the falls I was able to do a pretty fair amount of walking.. in fact the only medical issue was Mark fainting dead away in our room, and hitting his head pretty good.. (when he came to the first thing he said was "you dropped me.")

I did need a vicodin Sunday night... I had my infusion yesterday and am feeling pretty good now, but the RD was a little concerned that even with the remicade there is never a point at which I am completely pain free. I told him I am very satisfied.. sooo we will just continue.

The other thing is Jake's blood lead level dropped 11 points in 11 days... we have no idea why because nothing was changed in his surroundings... The public health guy spent about 4 hours here friday morning testing everything and the only place he really found lead was on the front porch, where Jake hasn't been... No matter.. we are going to be required to have lead abatement professionals remove the lead from the porch, probably by removing the railings and the ceiling..

still life is pretty darn good.

Gettysburg has some good ghosts.  Would love to investigate there.

Sounds like a great getaway!  Gald you were feeling well enough to do what you wanted to do!  That is great!

I am glad Jake's lead levels have dropped.  That is excellent news!

It's always great to get away from everything for a few days...glad you were able to do that, Kathy!  Sounds like you both had a wonderful time!

Kelly
