Enbrel Assistance | Arthritis Information

Does anyone know if Enbrel has a patient assistance program to help with the cost of the med?  I have a friend with ins. that doesn't cover it.  I was just prescribed Embrel & my insurance wouldn't pay for it either.  So I will be looking into to seeing about assistance too.  If I learn anything helpful I will pass it on.

Not sure if this is it exactly, but maybe a place to start:

When I was on Enbrel their enliven service paid up to 8.00 a month for the first 2 months and then dropped to 0.00 a month for the next 4 months and then you had to renew. That is if you have insurace already, I don't know what they would do if you didn't have any insurance at all. The only qualification for this program is that you have to be a first time enbrel user. good luck!you know, i just don't get it. how can an insurance company refuse to pay
for a drug that our doctors order? This makes me so angry. I'm still not
over them not paying for my nexium last week. What is the alternative to
enbrel? tylenol? i don't get it.

My ins. is a co-pay of 50 dollars for the Humira.  It is a 00.00 medication without insurance.  I am not sure why companies do not cover this stuff.  You would think that they would instead of having to pay 2-3 times the amount for the health issues we have NOT taking the stuff.  I sure would like to meet some of the bean counters for these insurance companies and in some possible way make them feel what we feel daily.  Maybe they would change their minds then.  Or if the loved one of a muckity muck of the insurance company got RA or JRA I bet these meds would be covered faster than we can blink!

Edit to my rant on insurance companies.  We have a friend at Danny's work that have 3 year old fraternal twins.  They were preemies and have had several health issues in their little short time we have been gifted with them.  My girls babysit for the twins and we all love them very much.  The little girl needs to have surgery because her kidneys sit horizontal in her little body instead of pointing down and they do not drain properly.  Causes very painful and frequent kidney infections and eventually kidney failure.  Our insurance company does not cover a same day outpaient less invasive surgery to correct this problem because it is "too new".  BUT they will cover a more invasive procedure that requires a 5 day recovery period as an inpatient in the hospital.  ??????  What freakin idiot came up with this????  Why in the world are they going to fork out the money for a 5 day inpatient hospital stay when it would be much much more inexpensive to do the same thing for her on an outpatient basis???  Not too mention incredibly easier on this child.  ??????  Something is very WRONG with the health care insurance monopoly here in the States.

Fortunately the guys have Union backing and Dad of the twins is going to work thru the Union to try and get the same day procedure covered.  Only problem is, they don't have a lot of time to mess with trying to get coverage.

understand it. And the cost of this disease is so much greater to that
insurance company if the disease is not slowed down. They just don't think
about 1, 2, 10 years down the road.
