I got up this morning and noticed that there feels like there is is something wriggly in my right knee. The knee is swollen (that's normal!) but the swelling seems to have spread down, so it looks like there is an arrow of swelling pointing down my shin, just below the knee. The wriggly feeling is a bit like pins and needles, only more fluid, if that makes sense?

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks!

What meds are you on?

I don't want to be the bearer of icky stuff, but you should prolly call the doc and either try to medically get rid of the swelling or have that drained.  Plus some xrays or MRI might be in order to figure out why it is so bad.

I'm on sulphasalazine, pred (10mg), Etoricoxib and co-codemol. I have a follow up appt on monday, so I'll mention it then I was just wondering if you guys had an thought ideas of what to do in the mean time!

Only see if you can bring the swelling down. And to rest that knee as is possible. Do mention it to the doctor. ARe you having a lot of pain and stiffness? If you knee feels weak, then wrap it or put a brace on it. Definitely do that if you feel like your knee might give on you. It sounds like RA inflammation which weakens the joint and the tendons. You don't want to take a chance on causing a torn ligament or something else. If nothing else, maybe wrap it in an ace bandage until you see the doc to see if that gives you any relief. Hi , someone here suggested the old 'ICE' treatment to me. I don't know how badly yours is swollen, but you might give it a try. Mine finally went away after a lot of prednisone, mtx, and remicade. I thought I was getting out of the car and putting too much weight on my Left knee, which was the one really hurting, so I tried getting out by turning and using both legs. That seemed to help (I got in and out of the car a million times going to garage sales on saturdays).....So, because it is the weekend coming up you might want to check in with the doctor and ask, but ice did help me reduce the swelling....good luck, Sarah
