Compression socks | Arthritis Information

What a lovely fashion statement but they seem to be helping.  My pain doctor suggested that I get the compression type knee highs socks.  They were OUCH!  But, I wore them last night around the house and have them on today and work and they seem to be helping as far as some of the foot and ankle pain and hopefully, they will help with some of the swelling!

Anyone else wear them?  I am going to check and see if I can find them on line and in different colors.  The only ones they had at the pharmacy last night were WHITE and I have on black pants and shoes.

They are VERY hard to put on, especially if you already heave issues with your hands.  I had to have Will help me put them on but, they do feel good!  I will take any little thing that helps at all!  I will keep you posted on if they help with the swelling!

I hate to say it out loud in fear of jinxing it, but, I feel better today.  Not good by any stretch of the imagination but definitely better than I have been.  Still lots of swelling and the usual pains but the pains are less severe and I feel like I have a little more energy. I have done the stockings before. I did them all the time when I was working. Now that I am in jeans and shorts (one of the blessings of not working) I don't wear them any more. They are expensive, but I did find that they helped a lot as did the diuretics. You are right it is the combination of many small things that make us better.

I'm glad you feel better. Shout it to the world. Yes, it might be gone on the morrow, but still today you have had this wonderful blessing.
Are these the same socks that are worn on airplanes?I am not sure.  This of one of the brands the doctor suggested but they are some of the most expensive!

I have had them on for about 5 hours and my feet don't hurt nearly as much a usual!

I wore them and the thigh highs when I was pregnant with my twins.  I had terrible swelling issues.  By the time I had my kids, I did have visable knees anymore.  They really do help.

I got mine online at surgical stockings.com.  Make sure you put them on right as you are getting out of bed.

Hi, I saw some at walmart and because I also have huge varicose vein in my R leg below the knee thses might be jsut the trick! I'll take a look, but I think they came in black. Maybe they are on line? In ebay? I tried support hose for years, but they are hot. I'll look at walmart next time I'm there. Great information, love Sarah

www.footsmart.com

has compression stockings, knee highs etc, as well as regular socks that do not have a seam across the top of my lumpy toes - which makes me just miserable with blistered toes, and they have kinds of comfy shoes in a wide range of sizes.

The prices are not cheap but they are not outrageous either.

Yes I'm a shoe nut. (But they do have compression stockings for men and women - not just white!)
