Hello everyone!!  Well i went to the ER late wednesday night becuase i haveing severe abdominal pain.  The triage nurse asked me on a 1-10 pain scale what mine was at and i said a 15, giving birth wasnt this painful.  So after about an hour of being there i was finally able to see a dr and he got me started on an IV and gave me a pain med through there.  Then they did a CT of my abdomin and the dr came back saying that it was a ruptured ovarian cyst.  That he was going to call the clinic where my OB/GYN is at and see if they want me to be admited or if i can be discharged and just be seen in the office in the morning, well they wanted me to get an abdominal ultrasound and depending on how that looked they were going to decide there.  Well they did the whole Foly cathiter thing and they did the ultrasound then shes like well we need to do an interal one as well. She says all this as i am still crying from her doing the ultrasound cause she was pressing down so hard, i was like "no theres no way i can go through that right now" so once the dr saw the ultrasound and saw that i didnt get an internal ultrasound done he decided to admit me, especially since i was in as much pain as i was in.  So i finally get into my room at like 5 in the morning and they started me on the IV pain med that all i have to do is press the butten.  and that helped a lot.  So the dr was going to have me go last night but my bloodwork didnt come back like they had hoped for and i was still in a lot of pain.  So... I am home now.  They gave me a script for Darvocet and i have to see her back next friday for a followup.  She said that she wont charge me for visits in her clinic for OB/GYN since i dont have ins and that she will get me birth control for free.  She also said that the birth control will help prevent this in the furture.  She also mentened that some of her patients that have RA have improved while being on birth control.  So its worth a shot, i know i need to be on it since im on mtx and if it helps my RA hey whatever works im in.

Kelsaymommy, I was wondering where you were.  It's not like you to miss a day on the board.I hope the pain meds are helping you.
Alos, sounds interesting a bout taking birth control pills.
Glad your Ok.

I am so sorry to hear all that. I have been on birth control for cycts as
well. I use to get them quite frequently. I only know this cause my cycles
were all screwed up. They would do ultrasounds and there would be a
cyst. I have had several get to the point that they were talking surgery to
remove and--poof--they would dissappear! Haven't had any rupture like
yours...thank goodness. Since being on birth control--no problems!

Hope it works for you!!

becky Aww sweetie I'm so sorry you had to go thru that.  I was just talking to Sarah today and her RA symptoms did get worse off the pill.  She also has ovarian cyst problems and had one burst not too long ago.  I hope the pain meds help you out and you get some relief.  The BC pills can work really well to prevent the cysts.  I hope they do for you.  (((HUGS)))Thank you guys soo much for all your kind thoughts and prayers.  Im kinda feeling better today, not very different from when the released me from the hospital last night but not a fraction of how i felt wednesday night.  OMG I dont wish that pain on anyone, no matter how much i dislike them

I am sorry about the cyst bursting. I have one right now and it is painful every other month, and I got to seem mine on an external ultrasound, and the sucker is HUGE! It look about the same size of the an eraser on a pencil!

Goooooo..... pain meds!!!

i wasnt signed into messanger...only that stupikd myspce thing  cause i always forget tht im logged onto that one.  Why dont you get it taken care of joonie? Take it easy!! Real sorry to hear of your troubles. Please take care.

Well... they are monitoring it. I have always had a cyst on my left ovary since I was 12. It did not go away when I was on BC, it actually got a little worse. *shrugs*

Maybe I am wrong that you were on IM, I have been getting my days confussed a lot lately. And they just keep running together or I just forget a day. It is beginning to wear on my nerves.

I am glad you are doing better. Oh and the BC is also a good soruce of calcium. The reason my 2nd RD opted to make me go on BC other then I was taking Arava.
