My husband, who nursed me back to healh for the last 3 months, is usually never sick. Since I have 'recovered', he has had 3 infections that have required anti biotics.  This makes me nervous as we are all trying to avoid people who have infections, etc.!! I'm affraid I'll get it from him. Isn't this strange????. I think he has pluresy (sp), and will go to the doctor tomorrow!!

sarah

I am on enbrel & MTX . April 9th  when I saw the doc my i told him my hushand was sick with a deep cough and coughing up with a fever. Doctor told me to sleep in another room and have him wear a mask.

No mask but I did sleep in another room

This might tie into the stress thread that we have going right now.  It is very stressful to care for someone that is as sick as we can get (I'm not in the least bit saying he didn't care for you out of love).  Stress lowers the immune system.  So it isn't too surprising that he has gotten those infections one right after the other.  Rest and a daily multi vitamin might have him bouncing back to his normal healthy self in no time!

Danny got sick after he was caring for me for so long when I could barely care for myself.  So....this makes a ton of sense for me.  I made him take a couple of vacation days so that it turned into a four day weekend and nursed him for those 4 days.  Started him on a multi vitamin and he has bounced back as good as ever.  He is also one of those types of people that never ever gets sick like your husband.

Boy howdy,

That sure is a lot of infections in such a short time! It is a very scary thought that we can catch things so easily. Hope he feels better soon!

It's very important not to be overly concerned about catching everything coming and going. Even within your own family. Take precautions; but don't be so concerned about catching things that you attract the infection.

As some of you know I recently bought and watched "The Secret" and although I've always been a firm believer in positive thinking and positive imaging; I didn't exactly make the connection of the Laws of Attraction. I'm a firm believer that constantly fearing a certain outcome can in fact bring it on.

Just because we have RA and are on immune suppressants does not mean you will catch things any faster than anyone else.

Totally agree with you Lovie.  If I'm around anyone who's sick, I do the normal things like washing my hands and not kissing (sometimes that doesn't work when it's my husband who's sick I might think about this more than normal people since we have teenagers traipsing in and out of the house all the time.  I keep hand sanitizer around all the time...anti-bacterial hand soap in the bathroom (where you hope like heck their mommas taught them to wash after going to the bathroom), and disinfecting wipes around.  I do once a week wipe down light switches...door knobs...etc.  I unfortuantely have to share a door with the people downstairs (even tho they have their own entrance and exit and we have asked them not to use ours) so I wipe those doorknobs off everyday.

So I'm a little overboard on prevention lol.  But I hate being sick and not taking any chances lol.

Hurts, by the time he has become symptomatic, he has already potentially
infected you so need not worry, nothing you can do short of him moving
out, lol. I don't think being exposed to these bugs is that bad for us, it lets
our immune systems have something to do. I work on an infectious medical
floor and am exposed to so many different bugs. And I have not been sick
for more than a year. That bothers me more than the thought of catching
something. I have a problem with doctors today, prescribing antibiotics
everytime people get a sniffle. I see this every day at work. It is out of
control, part of what is wrong with us. This is just my opinion but
personally I feel that we go overboard with treatment.
