I was wondering how many have had problems with being hoarse.I have been hoasre every since I got very sick back on June 5th.I read this could be a sign of RA.I have other symptoms.Pain all over.swelling at the base of thumbs, nausea, don't feel like eating, feel like I have the flu, headaches, severe fatigue.

Dr. is also checking for lupus, gout and some other things.Should get results Monday.

Hi Sheila,

Welcome! glad you found us too!!

Sorry you've not been well,  I hope they have some answers for you Monday so you can get started on feeling better.

I do have hoarseness and my voice is weak at times during a flare and also some trouble swallowing when that is going on.  Along with the other symptoms you describe on a day to day basis.....the extreme tired is the worst!!

I was only diagnosed 2 months ago, but have had problems off and on for a long time.

Again welcome, please let us know how your apt goes

Hope you get back some results that lead to the correct treatment. This can be a frustrating disease to nail down and everyone is different. What works for one doesn't for another.

All of you seem to have RA. Do you all test positive on your blood tests? I have all the classic RA symptoms and my hand x-rays look like RA, but I have never tested positive for RF or even had an elevated sed rate. I do also have fibromyalgia (for 15 years), but the swollen, hot, sore, stiff joints was a new symptom that started about 10 months ago. And it is definitely joints, not muscles. I feel like I failed a test every time my Rhemy says "all your tests look fine." I'm taking Plaquenil, MTX, Arthrotec, B6, Cymbalta (for tingling, numb hands and trigger fingers--but I am not diabetic). Latest blood work went to a lab at Stanford where they are supposed to do more in depth work--waiting to hear from that.

I guess I have that hoarseness too at times it kind of comes and goes without warning and defenately that throat thing Pam spoke of. Especially right now...but my throats sore from this cold thing I have going on I guess.

Good Luck with your appointment. Things do get better...or at least they have for me. On the proper treatment I've managed very well over the years.

Lovie

Sheila, So glad you found us!   You have found a 2nd home with people who understand your disease and who can  be there for you!  You sound just like me even now and my diagnosis took a long time.   Hopefully your Rheumy will have answers for you shortly.  I wish you the best and hope you have a restful  and pain free weekend.  Check in with us often and let us know how you are doing!  Welcome to the group!!I also have changes in my voice from time to time. I can be talking normally one minute then my voice goes really low and sounds like I have a sore throat. My boyfriend says I sound like a man I'm seronegative.  Have been for 21 years.  Or at least I was at last check.   Been awhile since i've had labs.  my SED is rarely elevated, usually in conjunction with a mild infection of some sort.  I too have fibro as well.  I fired my last rheumy because after 2 years of treating me, she said i was not in the pain i said i was because my labs were fine. so i hope you get some answers.

Sheila,
I've always had voice problems with this.  It was explained that it's part of RA.  I've lost my voice as a precursor to a flare. I'vel ost it when nothing is hurting.  And when everything hurts as well.

hugs, wayney

Hi, I am also sero negative. I have the other signs though, including bone erosion.  I have had RA about 10 years, with a definitive diagnosis (the erosions) for about a year.

I also have cardiomyopathy and CHF (congestive heart failure.) My hubby and my sister both tell me they know when I'm over doing/over tired or sick because my voice gets "wispy" as they call it, like I don't have the lung strength to force the air out.

I don't think its just RA.

I have been ok today. Not as weak a before.I did workout Sat. morning.I wondered if I would get sick that night.I was ok til today.Tired and usual pain.Especially between my legs, hips and rear.Does that sound weird? The hoasreness has not been as bad today.I am gonna go to the gym in the morning.I think just 3 times a week will be ok, I hope.Atleast til I get better.I am still staying out of the sun just incase the tests show positive for lupus.

I will check in tom. even if I don't hear from dr.Just like chatting.

I hope youall have a pain free and energized day.

Sheila
