Does anyone take any kind of supplements for auto immune disease.  I went to a nutritionist today and her tried to sell me all kinds of natural supplements.  It gets complicated. You take some with food some without food.  Some you take  one hour before meals. I was exhausted trying to follow him.

I have taken glucosomine chondrotin and reg vitatmin.  I heard a report of tv yesterday that g c does absolutely nothing.  I've tried fish oil and flax oil.  Nothing but prednisone helps my PMR.  sorry to be so negative this morning, Susan.

I take glucosomine chondrotin in liguid form, noni juice (immune system support and anti-inflammatory) and serrepeptease (anti-inflammatory).  I have been taking them for 6 months consistently and I can't tell you for sure that they are helping, but I think they are.  I have had PMR for 12 months and am down to 5 mg prednisone with pain only in shoulders and arms.  Natural supplements take a long time to work and they are expensive, but I am going to stick with them until this stuff goes away.

Good luck,

Marla

I make up my own ginger juice using fresh ginger and our heavy duty juicer.  I add several teaspoons to my tea in the morning and to my tonic water in the evening before dinner.  I truly believe it has helped me a lot!!  Ginger is a great natural anti-inflammatory and also acts the same as a cox 2 inhibitor for pain relief..don't use this if you have gall bladder problems, though.  And always check w/your dr first...my rheumy told me it was ok for me to use...good luck!Yikes...I just realized your question was specific for auto-immune diseae and here I am talking about anti-inflammatories...sorry...hmm, can I blame this on the prednisone too?  Since pmr is caused by our own immune system attacking us I have opted not to do anything to make that immune system stronger than it already is...any thoughts on this would be appreciated...thanks!I agree with you, Gmama, I don't really want this thing fighting my body any
harder than it already is. But I'm not sure if the reasonong is correct.
