I just talked to Liz's daughter on AIM and she was admited into the hospital and is going to be there overnight. Arielle said that "she has to be watched cause they cant give her anymore narcotics, her sed rate is high but they wont tell her how high"

Thats all the news so far.  I will update you if i hear anything else.  Please keep her in your prayers tonight!!!

I hope they fix her up. When I talked to her daughters earlier today she was still in the ER, I think. Not sure hubby made me get off the internet.

She will be in my thoughts.

Real glad to hear that Gram. Been worried about ya girl. Please take it easy and fill us in when you're up to it.

Hi everyone!!  Thank you to everyone for your well wishes and good thoughts!!!  It meant so much to me and family!!!!  I hope everyone is doing well!!!

Well, that was a nice rest lol.  Not really lol.  Soooooooooo here is the scoop.  Don't ignore your flares and try to wait them out as I did lol.  Called too late for pred pack which didn't do crud for me.  Then of course not enough rest.  I just went into uncontrollable pain and inflammation that nothing would help at all.  I had a call into the rheumy that day and when they called back they said off to the ER I go lol.  So everyone took me in (the girls do not like staying home if I go to the ER they worry too much) and the ER doc gave me Dilaudid (WOW!!) and toradol IV.  He said that he talked to my family practice doc and that he wanted me admitted if I still could not deal with the pain and couldn't sleep.  So upstairs to the floor I went.  I was on a PCA pump with a continuous base dose of Dilaudid and then had the button to push every 15 minutes if I needed it.  I didn't do that too much since the base dose was WOW!  LOL.  Plus they were still giving me  my scheduled morphine lol.  They d/c'd my base dose real late at night but left me with the button and an increase from 30mg to 60mg or my regular morphine.  I did not need the button after that lol.  I used it I think twice before being discharged.  I also was the happy receiver of IV solumedrol (talk about JUMPY after that) and a pneumo vaccine (had one less than a year ago...but mebbe cuz I was in the hospital they decided I needed another one). And this morning 40mg of pred.  I thought I could jump to the moon!  LOL!  When I asked my family practice doc (he is awesome he came 2x a day to see me) about why I'm so bad basically he said...don't know.  It just happens.  Some people have mild RA all their lives.  Some don't.  Some never flare...some flare very little...and some get the double whammy.  RA is just like that.

Went straight to rheumy after discharge and he also said the same thing my family practice doc said about why it's like this.  Hopefully one day we will have answers.  He came into the exam room...said hi to me...and then was like just how much pred are you on...you are really jumpy and twitchy lol.  He thankfully lowered my dose lol.  Back to tapering down from 25mg which works very well for me.  Also had a TENS treatment for my knee to get rid of some of the swelling so my knee isn't damaged anymore than it is.  No replacement til we have a handle on the RA.  So that knee will be monitored closely as well.  Thankfully he can do the treatments I would need and don't have to go to ortho for them.  Also increased my Lyrica from 50mg to 75mg.  And woudn't ya know it...I just had my 50's refilled too lol.  They are capsules so I can't even break any to make 75mg!  He said he wants to monitor closely how well I recover from this flare on my RA meds I am on now (humira and mtx) to judge how well my meds are working.  If I am too slow in recovery or just not recovering, I am to go back to him and then we are going to play with meds.  Talked to him for a few minutes about Danielle and he said he looks forward to seeing her and helping her out and he told me to tell Danielle not to worry, he will help her out.

I am on bed rest for a week (twitching about my house!!!) and then back to activities as tolerated.  Danny is being pretty strict on me about that.  Soooo I have to watch my time on here or I get in trouble.  Bleargh.  One would think yay!! rest!! but that is not the case.  I hate having people do things for me.  It gets old real quick when you can't do for yourself.

I miss everyone and I can not tell you how much my entire family appreciated your prayers, well wishes, and good thoughts for us.  It really helped get them thru this.

My time is up now.  Sheeesh I didn't think he would hear me typing this late at night lol.  Yep, insomnia from all the dang pred...plus I did nap like a good girl earlier lol.

Please everyone, take care of yourselves and listen to your bodies!!!

Glad that you have such great docs, that itself is such a blessing. Its amazing how quickly something like this can happen and its definetly something to keep in mind for any future flares.

I think we keep going and doing things in hope that it will go away or we can ignore it but our bodies have a point of saying thats enough now, when we dont listen we end up so much worse off.

You have such a great family and support network.Im glad Danny is being strict with you

I suppose it must be such a worry for Danielle too, but she seems like such a great kid and will come through all of this with a wealth of knowledge.

REST, REST AND REST SOME MOREGreat to have you back Gramma, even if you are not supposed to be tapping away on here!!  Strict is good right now, so listen to your Danny!  Now take it easy - so please please practice what you preach and listen to your body  So you can stay home with your wonderful family.

So glad you are feeling home again and got some relief. Be good and rest!

Laker

Welcome home Gramma, I have missed you, you are so supportive on this forum, I am so glad you had so much support and love and prayers sent your way.  Make sure you rest, I know it gets boring, I am off my broken foot for 6 weeks except for loo trips and real important stuff, and that is so hard, but then again with this dreaded disease I am in bed so much with pain and fatigue anyway, never mind, if we all pull together we can make this journey a little easier.  Hey Gramma, wouldn't it be great if we could have a laptop in hospital, I'd have a ball, I often have wished for one on my hospital trips.  Hugs Janie.

Thank you everyone!  OMG Jane...you should have seen me twitching for the internet lol.  And looking at that data port on my phone.  I need a laptop.  I do remember mentioning that to Danny several times lol.

I am resting.  I am limiting myself on the computer.  I am going back to bed shortly.  The increase in pain meds and lyrica make me all loopy.  Like I need that.  Like I wasn't loopy enough on my own before lol.

I am so happy to hear you are home fr0m the hospital.  I dreamed about you last night, that you and Danielle came over, we were all wearing tiaras and eating strawberries and drinking lemonade on my back porch!  Odd!  I don't want to sound like a stalker or anything but I was hoping to see you on line this morning!

The diladid is a wonderful drug!Ok, back to bed you go now!  I am so happy it is Friday, I went down another .5 on prednisone, down to 3.5 a day and HURTING.  I plan to make my bed my best friend this weekend as well.  Hope there are some stupid movies on the sci-fi channel!  Love and hugs

Grammie!

I'm so glad you are back home.  Take care of yourself, please!  We need you and your inspiration on this board.

Thank you for a great message to LISTEN TO OUR BODIES!!!!  It is so important to be proactive with our bodies and our health.

Please rest, rest, rest.  Give Danielle some hugs and kisses!

Phats

Really good to see ya back. Please get well soon!! Follow husbands orders!!

Glad you are better enough to be at home from the hospital at least Grammaskittles!

Want to thank you for sharing the particulars of your experience too! It is really helpful for someone like me that is so new to this disease and that doesn't even know anyone personally (other than myself, I guess...) who even has this disease...

Take care and get yourself the rest of the way better!

Regards,

Melly

Those girls of yours are pretty special. Arielle was such a champ, getting in touch with all your friends and letting them know about how you were doing. Give her a hug for me because I am so happy that she let me know that my friend was doing so bad.

I'm glad you are home and I think it is a good thing that your dog, the kids and your husband have you on a short leash. Remember that you are the example for your kids and you just gave them the example of NOT listening to your body. So, turn it into a positive now. My kids have to tell me to slow down because they don't want me back in the hospital. They are my early warning signals for when I don't realize it myself. It's kept me out of the hospital for a long time now.

I'm glad you are getting better.

Michelle what a great dream!!  We would love to eat strawberries and drink lemonade with you!  That just sounds so relaxing!  The girls would love your dogs and spoil them rotten.  They are small too and Danielle would carry them around spoiling them lol.

Arielle was awesome getting the message out.  She held up rather well considering everything that was going on.  We are going to do something special for her.  Danielle did well too with everything.  Had a little problem with her when it was time to leave from visiting me but other than that she did well.

I am going to turn this into a positive not just for the girls but for everyone.  There is a lesson to be learned here.  Like I need to practice what I preach lol.

My doc gave me Prilosec in the hospital and sent me home with a script for it if I need it.  And oh Lorster...my ins. does not cover it either.

I am glad to be home and glad to be getting slowly back to the boards.  We all loved everyones well wishes and the great compliments of the girls.  They really boosted the girls when they needed a boost.  Thank you everyone for thinking of them also!

We are all princesses because we are all strong women and still lead our families in a loving, caring, and positive manner despite our health difficulties!!!  It is said there is strength in numbers and we have that strength for each other here.

So glad to hear you are home! Lesson learned, lesson shared = listen to your bodies. Got it! Thanks!

Kathy

My dogs would love to be spoiled by your girls!  They just love people, especially kids!  However, I doubt they could get much more spoiled, I mean they go to work with me everyday!  Its Oliver's 1 year birthday tomorrow and I bought him so more toys (like he needs them!) and some doggy ice cream!  Its non dairy so doesn't upset their little tummies! Welcome home grammaskittles. Glad you are doing better. It has been a bit
lonely on the board with out ya.Welcome home!!!!

It sounds as if they had you on the heavy duty meds. When I was on the PCA pump the nurse came in and told me that I had to wait for an hour before pressing that button again. Talk about counting mins.

I hope that as every day passes, you're feeling better and that dreaded old RA is put in a quiet place for some time.

Welcome home Liz.  I remember when I was in so much pain and they put me in hospital.  What a relief.  Sometimes the hospital is the only place that can give you relief - no one wants to go but it sounds like you were well taken care of.  Now take care of yourself and listen to your wonderful family.

Knock on wood but I think the Humira may be starting to work for me.  I hope I am right and you start feeling a difference also.

Love ya.  Rox
