Enbrel Wearing Off? | Arthritis Information

Hey guys,

I have a question for all you Enbrel users, I inject myself every friday, and every thursday or so I start to get super achy. Does it wear off close to the time to inject again? I cant tell if thats it or its just all the exercise ive been doing. Hope everyone is well *hugs*

It could be either thing happening. You have been doing a lot more exercising lately. Or, it could be the Enbrel dropping too its lowest level, just before you take a new dose and bring it up to a high level again. If its the exercise, maybe it'll get better over time. This is absolutely no help I know.

The same exact thing happens to me. I also take my shot on Friday and by the time Thursday rolls around I can feel the difference in my joints. Some weeks are worse than others but nothing unbearable. I spoke to my RD about this and we are thinking about going back to the twice a week shots. I am not to happy with that beacause I like the pre-mixed needles and only having to inject once a week. We are going to give it another month and see from there.

That's certainly one of the good things about Humira. I started with bi-weekly injections and now have increased to weekly. All premixed and in read to use injections. Pretty easy as far as that factor goes.

I will definitely talk to my RD about this. I am currently on the 50mg pre-filled. I have seen many of you mention the twice a week 25mg shots, I wonder if that would help. As far as MTX, I tried to take the pills a couple years ago and my body hated it. I was very sick, so maybe I might try the injection, I heard it works for some people. Thanks again guys.

I thought that same thing was happening to me at first.. but now i go all week and feel fine... took about 4 months to get to full working speed!!!!

Since then ive been in full movement mode.. went a week in Disney without getting a scooter and only took pred 3 days!!! WO HOO!!!

The 2 times that Enbrel worked for me, it wore off by about day 5 or 5. Humira wears off around day 7, and I'm on every other week shots.. So I get a week of waiting til Friday.

I think though its a combination, you feel better when the Enbrel it at its most effective, so you over do, then are achy AND the medicine is wearing off. I'm still trying to figure out how NOT to over do when I feel well enough to do something I've wanted to do.

I have discussed similar prob . with my ra dr. I am trying 2x awk again ,then will go back to 1 xa wk . By then I should know waht happening . Dr. said he ahs gotten many reports teh same a s mine and also nation wide from other dr.s. when i first started enbrel ,I took arava with as an extra drug with good results . Ask your dr. about it. good luck ( on enbrel since 3/31/00)
