I am new at the RA life. I started out with nodules, had
surgeries, went through remition and now am full blown RA. I went
to my Dr. and she put me on the "starting drug" Hydroxychlor
(Plaquenil). She shook my hand when she came in the room...I felt
it to be a painful sign. I use my hands as much as they can be
used but please don't try to shake them.
Anyway, I am getting worse by the second and this drug will take 4-12
months to take affect. With all the crap that comes along with
this drug I hope it works.
I Loved the "spoon theory" That helped me so much. I sent
it to friends but you really find out who your friends are when they
don't call or write back. I hope this drug works (since I drove 8
hours to get it). But I'm now on the right track. Thank you
to the people that have put me straight on finding a DR. Theresa
Dear Theresa, Congrats on finding a doctor and starting on the real drug )plaq, which stops this stuff from eroding your joints. That was the first drug I took , 15 years ago, and it worked for me. Good luck, sarahTheresa I sure hope the med works sooner for you.

Theresa- I agree with the handshaking! I hadn't been to church in a while..and when I went back and we were all shaking hands....I ducked out quick- hurt so bad!
I'm on the Plaquenil also...and have yet to see much relief. I'm on my 2nd month...along with 5mg of Pred. Praying it works though!
