Hi!Is anybody being treated using Humira? My rheumy told me that the only option I have left available to me are the bilogicals and these are only available in injectable form.I could not take MTX because it caused lung problems and I cannot take Arava because it caused me to be dizzy. Now I am just a bit leary of trying anything else. Also I have a phobia when it comes to needles.I work in a veterinarians office and give the animals injections all of the time so I know the technique but I do not know that if I can actually poke myself with one of those bad bo dads!

HI

You'll get to where you can do it without thinking about it too much.  I think thinking about it is the worst part - we psyche ourselves out!  If you can just clean the area and stick it in you'll be better off

Good luck!

I take Humira. I have not had any side affects. It burns some going in and may cause a rash for a few days. But, i do feel better. I just count to three and on three i stick myself. It gets easier. Good Luck! Gina

Hi there,
I also do the Humira injections.  It's not too bad, just make sure to take it out of the fridge about 30 minutes before.  The only side affect I had was nausea, at first really bad nausea but the more I injected myself the better the nausea got.  It seems to be helping my pain though and that is all that matters to me....Good Luck......Ellie

Hey, I also take Humeria but I have been told to never leave it out to warm up.  Something in the Humeria mix breaks down and doesnt work as well. It has to stay refrigerated until using.  Check with your docs and/or pharmacy.  Maybe I have heard wrong or just different people do different things.  I have people give me the shot.  Just dont want to mess it up costing as much as it does! I am a counselor at a college and get the nursing students to give me the shot.  I dont mind needles, just dont want to give it to myself! Weird I know!!!!Our power was out this last summer for a week and my concern was my Humira getting warm. I kept it packed in ice and called the pharmacist. He told me to keep it between 30 and 45 degrees. And not to freeze. So, I keep it in the frig until i use it. I'm afraid of it going bad and not working or making me sick. I take it once a week and i know it is costing my insurance company ,000 a year. I want to thank everyone for all of your responses and advice.I picked up my "how to " video from the rheumy and the Humira from the pharmacy today.I took it out of the fridge 15 minutes before injecting, placed a bag of frozen fish(My hubby is a fisherman and it was his suggestion to use the fish istead of ice cubes and it worked very well) on my abdomen where I was going to give the injection for about 4-5 minutes and I was able to actually do what I fear the most...give myself a shot. I  just have a tiny red bump where the needle went in.I hope that is all I get.Time will tell if I am going to have any type of reaction.I am hoping that I do not have any type of reaction that is too horrible.I really need a medication that is going to work for me without causing me any problems. Thanks again everyone!I was told by my pharmacist to take it out 30 minutes before, and actually I think the Humira instructions that come with the injection also tells you that.
