CAT SCAN ON HEAD | Arthritis Information

Is a CAT SCAN as claustrophobic as an MRI Scan.I have to have a CAT Scan on my head ( for sinus problems) and i hated the MRI because it was so confining. When I had one it was just the same. I got to choose music--
Red Hot Chili Peppers!   They have open machines now...can you request
to go to a center that has one?

BeckyHi Lisa, You wouldn't get me in an MRI scanner without sedation as I am completely claustrophobic, but a CT scanner no problem, it is just like a big doughnut and you can see out both ends, its a lot wider too than an MRI scanner to lie in so you don't feel so confined, I can honestly say I think you'll be fine, I would try not to worry or go and ask the place where you are going if you can have a look at the machine one day before your test to put your mind at rest, I used to work in a radiography place and we had people doing that quite a bit for the same reason.  Best of luck, let us know how you go, kind regards Janie.

Here you go Lisa

Dam! I found a cartoon of a dog scanning a cat but it won't c&p.

On a serious note, here's a real one. I've had an MRI and didn't mind it - bit noisy. The CT scanner doesn't look too bad.

This is courtesy of Tinker.  I am just posting it for her.

A CAT SCAN Is a piece of cake. I go every three months for one. You will be in and out in a matter of minutes.

THANKS YOU LOVELY PEOPLE, I FEEL SOOOOOOO CONFIDENT NOW.

THANKS LIZ....... When you are laying there getting scanned and start to get a little nervous...just think of that cartoon lol.  That will bring a couple of happy thoughts to you.  Don't giggle tho, you gotta lie still!!!  Does anyone remember a hilarious episode of Chicago Hope a number of years ago. when a couple of medics were "at it" inside a scanning tunnel, with disastrous results?   I am giggling about that right now
