Yes, I did. Last night. We took our son in law out to ice cream, at coldstone,
since we missed his birthday. I got the smallest one they had. And, now I
suffer. Why do I do this? They had sorbet which I think (not sure) is milk
free. I love milk and am rebelling. Why do our bodies have to be this way?

Oh gosh, are you allergic to dairy? It is so hard to avoid , I heard a baker say 'hamburger buns are full of whey, dairy products" Ugh, I know how hard tht is to avoid as my son was allergic from birth to about 15 or 16???He got over it but is still 'stuffy' has other problems, some that could be caused from milk allergies, but he still eats/drinks it. He is an adult so I say NOTHING!! Just sympathize, like oh sorry you are stuffy, etc. (he had terrible ear infections, antibiotics constantly, and a lot of pain as a baby and throughout his youth.....poor kid) We all suffered with him.

Well, the more I consume dairy, the worse I feel, headaches, stomach upset.
I just need to quit. It is my own fault but I love ice cream and cheese. I try
to eat some of the better stuff but it makes no difference. I see people
posting about gluten intolerances on here and that would be hard too,
maybe even harder because there is gluten in everything we eat. Oh man, that is my weakness too! And Coldstone is almost impossible to pass up!! Is it a gluten intolerance or a lactose intolerance? your symptoms sound similar to dh's and he is lactose intolerant. just a thought!

Oh Lorster, I feel your pain.  I am not dairy intolerant, but I LOVE ice cream and I swore it off the end of 2005 when I went on Weight Watchers.  Here is a tip that might help you through the ice cream cravings.

I became a MASTER at counting points, which is the Weight Watchers way of counting calories basically, and I made sure that I budgeted enough points for desert every night.  Actually, I had ice cream AND popcorn every night and still lost 30 pounds, as well as reduced my Cholestoral count.

When I say ice cream, I definitely do not mean Coldstone, but I did have a Weight Watchers Giant Fudge Bar every night (1 point).  Even got my husband hooked on them.  This desert ritual continues today.  The secret here is that by having these every night I have learned to like them almost more than the creamy ice cream, and I don't crave the creamy ice cream any longer.  I used to be a closet Baskin Robbins junkie. Now I crave these Fudge Bars when I cannot have one, and it's easy to just say no to the "real" stuff.

Try them.  You can find them in most grocery stores in the ice cream section.

Hope you feel better.

Soy Delicious (i think) Peanut Butter Zig Zag non-dairy ice cream is a life-saver!!! Best stuff ever! Try it!I just quit LA weight loss and am going to go back on WW. I love that
program. I will miss LA but it really adds up but I need to learn to eat real
food all the time. I know I'm dairy intolerant. I am going to try the WW
treats. I also really like soy chocolate silk milk. It is great so I'm sure the
soy delicious would be really good too. I'll try that. There has to be many
really good non dairy alternatives out there. Anyone else try some good soy
or rice milk products?I would really recommend Bryanna Clark Grogan's website -
she is a vegan cook and has substitutes for all dairy products that are delicious. She does a substitute fetta cheese that my daughter has asked for every Christmas and birthday for years & prefers it to the dairy version even though she is not dairy intolerant and eats some cheese, she just prefers the taste - I marinate it in olive oil, garlic, bayleaves, rosemary, thyme and let it mature for a week or so - delicious.
Think the site is BryannaClarkGrogan.com - if not she can be reached through the Vegsource.com site, scroll down the left side to New Veggies/Grogan.
She has substitute recipes for nearly all dairy products.
Also has some recipe books out. Lorster!!! SHAME!!!  LOL.  I loves yas girl.  We will never learn will we lol.  I had a late night snack last night and paid dearly with heartburn all night last night.

Hi , everyone's on so many meds I hate to ask you this, but do you take allergy shots? or just avoid the allergies? It is almost impossible to avoid some milk in foods prepared outside of your home.

My son took 'the shots' , (poor kid) for years and anti-histimines......still can't figure out how he got an A in calculus in college, his brain musta been 'mushed' by all the shots, meds, etc., but he is very smart! the shots allowed him to live a 'normal' life, he was allergic to dairy, chocolate, dust, pollens, MOLD! (we lived on the banks of the Truckee river, in Reno, Nevada....we had mold!), and who know's what else???Everything showed up 'red' reaction on his Allergy test!!

He couldn't resist 'ice cream' either, has 2 dogs, 2 horses, a rabbit and chickens (last time I checked....may be more, and OH 2 or 3 CATS, he's allergic to all of them!!

OH well, he's an adult now I don't have to think about it! Right?! Right!!

sarah, by the way he is 6'-5" and adorable.....am i biased???

Don't do it again, duh!  Listen to your body and react!  If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten....

.... but then again, you missed your son's birthday....

Edit: .... actually, your son in laws birthday...
