Drenched with sweat...ugh!! | Arthritis Information

I woke up this morning cold from the wet sheets and pillows in my bed.  I'm having to change sheets often due to the sweats.  Also I'll just start sweating during the day for no reason.  Anyone else experience this??  Is it the pred, the MTX or the Embrel?? Or just RA?

I'm been on 12.5 mg MTX for 4 months, 10 mg prednisone for 4 months and 50 mg injection of Embrel for 3 weeks.

Thanks for any insight anyone might have...

I had really bad night sweats while on MTX. Once it was out of my system they decreased significantly, so I concluded they were due to MTX rather than RA. I used to sleep on towels rather than sheets, as they were easier.I've been doing the same thing. Just sitting and break out into a full sweat. I am also on 10mg of Prednisone, maybe that is what's causing it. Thanks for the advice--I'm going to try the towels.  Getting tired of changing sheets all the time! Thanks, Lisa.  Guess it's either the MTX or the pred.  It's awful when I'm at work and I'm suddenly covered with sweat.  I'm on Prednisone and just started getting the night sweats. It's nasty.

How old are you Sula? That's also a sign of menopause.

I don't think it's menopause.  I was on replacement hormones for several years, then my doctor pulled me off them about a year ago.  Went through some nasty symptoms for awhile there, hot flashes, etc.  Think I'm all through with that finally!!  The sweats justs started in last month or two.  Hi, I'd blame the prednisone. I try to take it in the morning and that helped, but I had a couple of 'drenched in sweat' nights. I was taking very little mtx (5mgs), but 15 preds at the time. SarahI am not currently on MTX or pred.  I just had my 2nd round of Rituxan a couple of months ago.  I have terrible night sweats and also have the horrible day sweats where I am just sitting and start having bad sweats.  This never happened to me before RA, so I tend to think it is the disease.

I tend to think maybe it is the disease, too.

Thanks, everyone for the input.  It's funny but I feel better just talking about these things on the forum.

Thanks, everyone.

I got them when I was first put on pred back in August. HOWEVER, they are STILL here. It's SO wierd. I just assumed they were post partum hormonal imbalances....since I had just had a baby.

But I'm off pred, and I still get them, what, 9 months later???

Oh wow, I can't believe I am coming up on a YEAR of this!!! HOLY COW!
Sula, while pred and other meds can cause sweating, please do not discount
other reasons out there especially if you have been on pred awhile and all of
a sudden you are sweating. There are some health problems that can cause
sweating. A few that come to mind is TB, lymphoma, kidney infections and
many viral illnesses including HIV. Please have everything ruled out before
making sure it is the meds and not something pathological. Keep me
posted. My hubby has ra writing for him - he has sweats also - but he is not on any meds except for pain mostly drinks his pain away - but i have told the sweats happens when the disease is progressing I'll be going to my Rd nex week & I plan to ask him about the sweats--I'll let you all know what he says...

I think it' s the ra too. I get them every now and again. I also think it might be some meds I am on. Such as relafen and cymbalta. I am burning up and have the air cond on. Everyone else is freezing. I sweat all the time...it's awful. I feel for ya Sula. Hang in there

It is the disease - not on meds and it happens to me all the time
