Sorry I haven't been around much!!!! I've been reading what I can, at least every other day. I've been busy busy busy. Summer time at work means my 8 hour shift feels like 16. When I get home all I want to do is NOTHING. LOL

Anyway, I had my second RD appt today. She's really leaning toward the idea of my shoulder being purely muscle related. I started getting the pain back in it about a week ago. She said to stay on the flexeril, but to take it "as I need it" she said don't worry about the doses overlapping, I should be fine. I don't really plan on changing my regiment that much. I take a 5mg in the AM, a 5mg at lunch, and a 10mg at night. At the most, I might add a 5mg at any point during the day that the pain just doesn't stop. Seems like an okay plan for now.

She's also still sticking with the idea that some of this is coming from my neck - so now I have exercises I have to do! Whoopie! Pretty much it's just rolling my neck around to stretch it out.

I'm staying on the mobic until further notice. I don't go back to see her until the 16th of July!! Whew!!

I haven't had any swelling since the Mobic FINALLY kicked in (almost a month after starting it!)

I'll be scheduling an appt with my reg. doc soon though - my heartburn is officially out of control. *sigh* I'm doing everything in my power to keep it at bay - not eating before bed, making sure I chew really good, no caffeine, etc etc etc. It's just terrible though. I'm sure the meds were what sent it over the edge. Blech.

I have terrible dry mouth from the flexeril, but I've picked up Oasis Spray and Mouthwash - that REALLY seems to do the trick!! I don't know what I'd do without them.

Justin should be getting his insurance at the beginning of June (we think) so that'll be GREAT. Though, lucky for us, he's been doing REALLY well. We found some pro-biotic pills at Sam's and both of us have been taking them daily now. He really thinks it's helped him. I KNOW it's helped me! Except for that heartburn thing. Ick.

Anywhos - I miss you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe once summer is in FULL swing, and I'm used to the chaos that they call "work" I'll be more able to stick around. Love you all!!
Nice to "see" you again Katie, and glad that all the new stuff is helping (well except for the heartburn thing, which I know is ghastly!!  So hard to get any relief.  I was at my wits end with trying to get to sleep, and then then tried laying on my side cuddling my (really) hot wheat bag, (almost sitting up) and most nights now am able to get off to sleep that way.   But I guess you've "been there - done that" with all the usual - lots of pillows, bed head raised - so I can't teach a grandmother to suck eggs!!  But the hot bag certainly helped me.

Busy in your job -- Ahhh summer  -  I wish -- it's just starting to get colder here as we move towards winter.  Although today is warm and sunny, it's just as likely that tomorrow will be Southerlies (really cold and windy, and rain) it's so up and down at this time of year.

Don't work too hard.
Katie,
Have you tried Prilosec? I got heartburn really bad when I was taking Naproxin and now if I take Aleve I'll get it again. The Prilosec really helped, my dr. told me to take it, except it's really expensive for over the counter.

It was good to see you post.

Look who decided to hop in... Katie-roo

Well, at least Flexaril works for someone out there

Glad you are doing better and the Mobic is working out for ya. I know the Mobic and my stummy did not agree after a month of being on it.

Hey Katie, good to hear you are still alive!!

Jeanne - I *never* work too hard.

ITS REALLY NICE TO SEE YOU KATIE......sorry to hear about your heartburn, do you get omeprazole over there. Its helped me with my H/B which was driving me crazy.

Glad to hear Justins doing good, those pro-biotics are great.

Take care and look forward to seeing you on here some more when things quieten down at workHi Katie - good to see you back. I find the cheap old fashioned bicarbonate of soda (baking soda) - 1 small teaspoon in a 1/2 glass warm water works instantly for me.
No good apparently if you have high blood pressure but otherwise works like a treat.
Is heartburn a symptom of RA or is it drug induced?

Hi Katie.

My doc has me on OTC Prilosec.  I don't even have the heartburn, but with all the meds he wants me on it.  Well, I just lied, I've had it a couple of times and don't want it more than that.  I agree though, it is expensive OTC.  I wish it was a prescription!

Hey Katie Girl!  I miss you!  Without you around, I'm having a hard time getting into trouble, and I love getting into trouble!

Sounds like for the most part things are going well for you guys.  That's good.  Just remember how miserable you were a couple of months ago - it so good to hear you sounding better.

I really think you should try the Prilosec.  It is different than Zantac, and I think it may just be what you need.  You should do something, because it sounds like you may be damaging your esphogas if it is making you cough - and that's really not good.  Okay, the mom in me will shut up now!

Hope you darken our doorstep again sometime soon.

Karen

"Hope you darken our doorstep again sometime soon"

Hahahaha sure thing!

Justin wants us to try the Prilosec too, but yeah, the price really bites. Bleh.

I almost feel guilty hanging around here and posting, because I feel SO GOOD. I feel like a fake! :(

I will try to keep in touch more though! Today we're going to eat at Golden Corral, and then shoe shopping! SHOES! YAY!
Glad to see you around again!  Have fun shoe shopping! My doc writes a script for Prilosec and then all I have to pay is my co-pay.  Even though it is available in generic and approved for over-the-counter, docs can still prescribe it.  My GERD is so bad I need to take it twice a day most of the time, and it really helps.  Very recently I found something at Wal-Mart called "Heartburn MD" and it seems to be helping. I have been replacing one of my Prilosecs daily,   though I doubt if I could get completely off Prilosec.  Ain't life grand?  Pat
