Trigger point injections? | Arthritis Information

Just curious if anyone has had these before?  I go tomorrow at 2 than have my regular weekly treatments after that.  Going to be a long day at the pain clinic!

I had one once...but it wasn't in a joint. It was in my pelvic bone area....turns out I wouldn't have needed it. Looong story---It wasn't that painful, not fun though. But if you're getting yours in a joint- I'm thinking it's going to be a bit painful!?

Good luck!I don't think its in a joint.  From my understanding, the inject muscle spasm or con strictures in your back to relieve referred pain elsewhere in your body.  I have had a few cortisone shots in joints like my hips, ankles and wrist but I think this is supposed to be different.

Yes, Michele, I have had many trigger point injections.

A few years ago, before I was diagnosed with RA, I was getting 3 shots every 3 months in my back. Usually upper back, right next to the spine or by shoulder blade. They really did help me for about 3 years. At that time, I starting developing Cushings symptoms, so I had to quit getting them. I also have widespread OA and fibro, among other things.

I hope you get some relief. Let us know how it goes.

Be well,

Nini

Nini39210.6137152778Thanks, I will update Thursday morning!  I will admit, I am feeling a bit better but not sure if its because we switched to oxycontin from vicodin so the pain is just masked but hey, I'll take any relief!

My adrenals are also messed up, exhausted is how she put it.  However, i read that they can use a lidococain injection instead of a steroid injection for the tpi so maybe thats what she has planned.  The communication at their office is lacking but her treatments are helping so I put up with it!
I don't know if this is the same thing but I have been experincing extreme pain the soles of my feet.  My Pain Specialist attributed this a ruptured disc.  This was before I was dxd with RA.  I had a total of 6 treatments over a 3 month period.  The injection point never hurt and about 2 hours later I could feel the relief to my feet.  UNFORTUNATELY the treatments didn't have the longtern affects :(
