More drugs to take....... | Arthritis Information

Hi guys, I had my rheumy appt today, he is so lovely, just like a really cuddly Dad, and the staff are really lovely, they give me a hug when I go in and make me a cuppa, fit me in whenever necessary, what more could I ask for, oh and he bulk bills Medicare so I don't have to pay anything.

I am so lucky.   (((hugs)))  I don't know much about the Rituxan.  But just wanted to give you a hug to maybe ease some nervousness a little.  Get out there and run a google search on side effects etc.  And remission rate etc.  Sounds like you have a great rheumy!!  Sorry though, I have no real info on the other drug, as far as biologicals go, I have done enbrel and am now on humira weekly.

After my doctor took me off of Humira we talked about Rituxan. I've managed fairly well so far so we've agreed to put it off for a while.

I did however look into it some and also have spoken with a couple people who are on it. They are getting really good results; but one person I talked to had a horrible reaction to the high dose of steriods they give you right before your infusion. With all your problems make sure you question your doctor about the steriods. I think they can adjust it some and it's not required that you receive so much.....but is it safe for you to have any at all? That would be my only concern right off for you. (I have no idea.....but curious)

Did he offer you anything for pain control in your back? Have you tried muscle relaxers? I take Flexaril on a regular basis and have found they do help a great deal.

I hope things get better for you soon Janie. I know this has been a struggle. Hang in there.
