I called about my medical records to take with me to my prior Rheumatologist...it will take up to 3 weeks to get them, but then she said it would probably only take a week, but then again probably 2 weeks....... Amazing isn't it? Maybe this is not that unusual.
Oh well I guess my Rheumatologist will just have to go on what I tell him and my past bill of dx.
Lydia
Hi Lydia,
It's just crazy is'nt it? I worked in Dr's offices for 14 years, when a "release of records" came in we copied the records and sent them off.....usually within 24 hours. If someone walked in and signed a release we would copy records on the spot, unless of course the chart was just huge, but there was no charge and no aggrivation for the patient.
I had to get my son's records recently and was told I would be charged and it would take a week or 2. I went in person to sign the form and the nurse (who knows me and my son) copied all the records while I waited, no charge , no problem. I guess it just depends who you're dealing with and how they want to treat you that day???
Good Luck
Everything costs these days. I wonder why they just haven't worked up some kind of a data base for medical records and such so Physicians and their staff can just look it up from anywhere in the United States.
