What color is your kitchen? | Arthritis Information

I was at a resteraunt last night and the subject of how colors affect your
appetite came up. This lady was telling me that orange, red, and yellows
make you want to eat and greens, blues, and browns actually supress your
appetite. She also told me that yellow makes you want to fight. My kitchen
is in that martha stewart green color so I guess that is why I eat out all the
time, lol. I wonder how true any of that is.

mine is orange i hate it. too tired to change it:)

kel

mine is pale lime green and pale pink with white cupboards

My kitchen is beige.....but my dinning room is red:

Hill~

I *LOVE* your kitchen.  It is so awesome.  I especially love the coke machine (even though I'm a Pepsi drinker) and the York patties on the counter.  What a cool kitchen!

Phats

Awsome kitchen/dining room, Hill.

My kitchen is red, white, & blue. Walls have off white antique looking wall paper with blue stars. I have a border of Old Glory & the new Flag going all around top. Everything is patriotic. My husband and kids did it all for me when I was away for the weekend at my nieces and surprised me. I love it!

ok Lovie, how do you clean those dang stainless appliances. They are
driving me nuts. Fingerprint city constantly. I'm about over it.My kitchen is beige and here I was thinking it was RA that gave me lack of appetite!
Macdonalds, so I have read use the psychology of orange etc to stimulate appetites, doesnt work for me, I think their food is horrible.    Can they sue me for that?LOL, people seem to be able to sue for the most stupid things these days.

Lorster; mine are smug proof stainless steel. I forget what they are called, but they don't show finger prints like the other ones do. I insisted on that kind when my husband insisted on stainless steel!! I do have some wipes I bought that are made especially for stainless steel. They also make somekind of solution you can put on them that helps with finger prints too.

My kitchen is blue,  and white with black accents.  I also have a collection of Arnotts biscuit tins around the top on shelves.

My kitchen is purple.  Possibly changing it this year if my husband is up to it.

The plan calls for  6 base cabinets  and 7 uppers, in a nice basic but pretty design. we have antique wood floors in oak and tiger maple,  they need refinishing but even in rough shape they are pretty. the wood trim has been partly stripped, but I ran out of energy. we have no idea whether  to continue or  to repaint..

the house is 135 years old in rough shape but I love my kitchen with its  tall tall windows and  great light.  ( the online kitchen planner wouldnt let me enter  the 4 doors  I have in the kitchen. I have almost zero counter space lol.

In the RV my kitchen is indigo blue, black and taupe accents and in the house the kitchen is golden yellow with green and black accents.  Any color makes me eat. Oh I love this thread.  It's so nice to see everyone's photos and hear about their kitchens!  The kitchen really is the heart of the home, and it's a nice way to share our hearts with each other.  Keep em coming, I love it!  You all have such different, yet wonderful taste!I really can't find any good pictures in my photo bucket of my kitchen!!  Its pretty large and has a high chair rail and trim whi9ch is all painted white.  It has very large, old cupboards which have also been painted white with black wrought iron hinges.  The top half of the room is a purple sponge looking wallpaper and the bottom half is white with butterflies on it.  There is a matching white boarder at the top with flowers and butterflies on it as well.

I cut some of the flowers and butterflies out of the boarder and glued them randomly on the cupboards!  We pained the old crappy ceiling fan purple to match and made custom pulls for the ceiling fan out of purple beads!
That sounds groovy! Wish you could post pictures. I love seeing the pictures too.Maybe we could do our nice comfortable beds too.My bed is the best thing i ever bought, it is high as i dont have to bend to get into it or struggle to get out of it. I'll have to take a photooh beds.  I LOVE our mattress as I can rest without pain and my husband hates it because it gives him lower back pain ... too soft for him. I need a new bed. BADLY!

Hillhoney, loved looking at pics of the kitchen. I've enjoyed looking at all of the other pics too.

As far as my kitchen goes, it's very 1950's. I rent and doing any other color than navjo white is a no,no. My cabinets are the metal ones and are painted the orginal color of yellow. I've added some colorful wall hanging to cheer up the sterile look. Oh, and the floor is this awful white stuff that my parents had in their kitchen. Never looks clean!!!

Again thanks for sharing,

Hey, that was nice. Thank you all for posting. I love all your kitchens. I
have to clean mine up before i can take any pics of it, lol. I will though. My kitchen is pretty plain lol.  No pics will be posted of it lol.  I do have the black and chrome appliance thing going on.  My next purchase is my black dishes with shiny chrome place settings.  Ok, I took a few pictures of my kitchen last night!  LOL!  I really need  a life!  My house is old, built in 1922, cute but small!

Well... anyone ever hear of a kitchen being painted PINK?! My MIL painted the kitchen PINK... oh excuse me I mean "Coral Rose"

But once I get me some extra money to "waste" I am painting the kitchen a very calm green color called "Marble Green". It is a nice green, almost a sage just a little lighter.

Right now we keep the kitchen door closed because well... it is JUST TOO PINK for my liking!!!

Here are some pics I just took a few mins ago. Please excuse the "mess".

I **LOVE** pink, but even THAT might send me over the edge.

Phats

Michele,

Your little chewbacas are soooo cute!!!

Love the underbite

Phats

Told ya the PINK was too much.

We are going to due away with the upper cabinets and stack them on the wall in the laundry room for storage. I cannot open or even reach the upper cabinets. They are too high and for some reason the doors stick and I cannot pull the ones I can reach open. I was going to look into shelves the put on the walls for the dishes and all, but the trains shake the house and hubby is afraid that if we use shelves the items will get shook off. *shrugs shoulders* So... need to come up with another inexpensive idea for dish storage. Paper plates maybe?

I do think the sage green will look very nice, but you might also keep an eye on your local classifieds and craigslist.com.  In our area you can often find people giving away kitchen cabinets for free when they remodel their kitchens, and you might be able to get ones that would be easier for you to use.

Michele your kitchen looks great!

Keep those pictures coming folks!

Yeah; I love seeing the pictures.

Those were free cabinets. They got them from the cabinet shop down the road that were throwing away mismatched cabinets or damaged cabinets. But now they do not throw them out anymore, so... no more free cabinets. The in-laws took about 6 of the big cabinets they had in like a broom closet where the water heater is, but they were about the same as what are on the walls.

And the mirror is there to cover up an ugly part of the paneling that did not take the wallpaper, that is why there is only one wall with the wallpaper; and the the wallpaper on that wall is not really sticking good. Probably good for us less work hubby will have to do.

I did get a new fridge. Our other one (Whirlpool from Sears aka SUCKS) we had for not even 4 years died. I was bummed. A couple of days before the fridge died I was going to clean it and scrub it down and all. Good thing I did not feel up to it, because if I would have went thru all that trouble of sanitizing and cleaning it and for it to die a couple of days later I would have probably borrowed a gun from someone and shot it until I felt better

Yellow kitchens make me on edge, my moms was green and i wanted to eat all the time in there.  :)

LOL Bubba - that's the same problem everyone has when they get in their momma's kitchen!

Wow...now that is a lot of pink!!!  I don't think I could eat in there lol.

Teenagers always want to eat in a mommas kitchen!!!  First they do when they come home from school is yank open that fridge door!

Michele...I love your babies!! They are so cute!!!  I had a Shih Tzu growing up.  She was a nut!
Maybe we could do our nice comfortable beds too.My bed is the best thing i ever bought, it is high as i dont have to bend to get into it or struggle to get out of it. I'll have to take a photo
Okay...so where are everyone's safe havens...the Bedrooms? I LOVE my bedroom! We just redecorated our Master bedroom. It's kinda Victorian meets funky twist. I'll take pics and post tomorrow if I can figure out how. lol
Victorian meets funky twist? I really want to see that. That could be a whole
new trend in bedrooms, lol. I will get my pictures posted soonJoonie - Barbie would love your pink kitchen!

I just joined today because I am researching on this topic of arthritis. I am not at work because my husband is very swollen, sore and needs help even to the restroom. Later on that.

I love the topic of colors. I have a mauve kitchen with light, light mauve (to compliment) cupboards. My daughter and I painted it a couple of years ago and I love it. But I'm getting that feeling; you know, where I want to re-paint.

About bedrooms, mine is a purple and it's really soothing too. About beds; my husband is in so much pain. We have a new bed but was wondering if the Sleep Number Bed helps anyone? The ads show it's the best, but in reality I wonder if it helps the pain. Any input would be a help.

Keep sending pictures. I love seeing others' rooms and I get ideas too!

Carol

Ok, I will send my pics of my kitchen as soon as I get it cleaned. It is still
piled high with left over food from my dtrs graduation party and I would not
take a pic of it the way it is this morning. Mine is pretty bland as I have
absolutely no decorative abilities. Hi bluesage and welcome to the board!!  So sorry to hear about your hubby!

Bluesage, welcome!  Glad you joined us!

YES, YES, YES - I love my sleep number bed.  It helps me so much - I can't sleep throught the night on other mattresses, but I can with my wonderful, adjustable bed.  If I am having a restless night, I just hit the switch and make it firmer or softer, depending upon my mood!  And the other thing I love about it is that it doesn't get a sway, or sag in it where my rear-end goes, like other mattresses do as they age.  We have had ours since 2000 and it is like new.  (And me and my hubby both have some heavy rear-ends, LOL)

Good luck to you.  Lets see some photos of that purple bedroom - sounds great!

Here's my kitchen. We got a new table that's white and fits much better.

I have always loved white cupboards and wished I would have picked white
for mine. I love everyones kitchens. Please keep sharing.

My parents have a sleep number bed and swear by it. She has problems with her hips and swears it helps. It's costly; but a good investment.

Welcome to AI Bluesage.

Lorster - I hope you do not really mean you "love" my barbie kitchen   Joonie, I love pink. And I see much potential in your kitchen if you kept it
pink. It looks very retro and you could do a retro theme. It is so much fun
fixing up a new house. I hope you are having a blast doing this. I'm so
happy for you that you got into a new home. You will love it for years and
I'm jealous that yours will be paid off in 9 years. I have 25 more years on
mine ack.

I am not much into pink. I really do not have a favorite color, it seems my favorite color changes like the seasons. But I can tell you pink and purple I really do not care for. I guess because to me they are girly. My daughter she is toren between pink & purple being her favorite color, so we painted 2 walls hot pink, and the other 2 zest purple in her bedroom and she loves it. I guess if you cannot decide which is your favorite color paint it both

I am just waiting for the Humira to kick in and get a few extra "waste" moneys to start back on fixing up the rooms. I seem to like vases for some reason, but I do not care for flowers. I am a strange one.

Well gee, Joonie, you could do what my mentally ill aunt used to do - she would go to the cemetery and pick out which flowers she liked there and bring them home to decorate her house!  LOL Okay...so here is my kitchen...please forgive my mess. I will post bedroom pic on the other thread. Hope this works!  Blessed39217.6797916667LOL Hillhoney, how funny is that.Lisa, you and I have almost the same pot rack hanging. How kewl. I'll have
to post my green kitchen that my mom says looks like someone vomited all
over my walls
