Well, I"m not crazy,,,, | Arthritis Information

I FINALLY made it to my shrink appointment yesterday, and well, he was like "I don't think this is anything that I can help you with". I told him I ADORE being on the Cymbalta, and I feel like my old self, just still in pain. He told me if I wasn't to try hypnotism to call him, but other than that he felt I was dealing with all this quite well, and that I didn't need him.

I also switched my pain management appointment from this morning at 8am to yesterday afternoon. THe nurse was like "OMG< are you really the SAME person I saw 4wks ago? You are SO ANIMATED!!!" She couldn't BELIEVE what the Cymbalta is doing for me. She wants to give it 4 more weeks to help my pain, and if it doesn't by then she said they will completely rule out this being psycosis-related pain (which she said, she almost is now, since I was SUCH a different person, but she could still tell I was in pain cause my BP and pulse was so dang high). I am under orders to "rest" for an entire week. So next week I cancelled ALL my appointments and we are just going to stay close to the house. We may make a couple mall trips, but no being gone all day like we have lately.

So, it was nice to know that FINALLY someone goes "oh yeah, you are NOT crazy!!". She also upped my percocet (yay) and said if I want something stronger next month, she's not against it. I'm fine with the percocet though.

Oh, and I got lidoderm patches!!!!!! *dances around the room* OMG, these are like the BEST THING EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOLY COW. I could drive yesterday afternoon without wanting to cry from pain!!!! I think the shrink thought I was a little nutty (I put them on in his office. hahahahaha)

I see BOTH RD's on the 24th (my old one and my new one). Lets hope we get somewhere then. *crosses fingers*

But all in all, yesterday was a good day, I"m glad they have ruled out that this is psycological, although part of me was hoping it was. It would be easier to fix. (I told the shrink that....and his comment was "well, if you feel that was, it is definatly NOT psycological......those with psycological pain are in MAJOR denial...and would have fought coming to see me")

10 more minutes until I can go put on a patch.....I can't wait!!! lol. Too bad it's summer....I almost wish it was winter, and I could wear long sleeves.....I got SO many looks at wal-mart yesterday. hahahaha
Well Yipeee for you!!! Glad you had a great day yesturday and hope today is even better!!!Thats terrific!  I am glad you are making progress!!  I use the lidoderm patches as well and they really do help take the edge off!!

YAY!!!  I told you that you were only nuts in the good way of being nuts!!!  Gotta love those Lido patches.  I knew you would love them!!  Who cares if people look at you when you are in Wally World!  Danielle wears the patches on her hands to school.  I love the Lido patches too.  My foot says...ahhhh...thank you for putting one on every night when I go to bed lol.  The best part about them...they are non narcotic.

Rest all next week.  I will be calling and making sure you are!!!

Do you need a prescripton for the lido patches? How big are they? Please tell me more about them. Are they like those icy/hot patches?

My feet could use some "ahhhhhh" too. LOL

thx

I use the Lido patches from time to time too (and LOVE them) but Iwas told by my pharmacist that they do affect your liver....so anyone having to watch out for that, may want to be aware if they aren;t already....

Regards

HI, I am so happy for you, it is great to hear good news.  I use Norspan patches since last week and I can notice a hell of a difference to Endone.  Well done!  Janie.

The lidoderm patches are prescription.  They are 10cmx14cm.  However, you can cut them to fit whatever body part you want to put them on.  The lidoderm patches and not like the icy/hot patches.  They contain 5% lidocaine which is a topical anesthetic.  The pamphlet that I have that came with my patches indicates people with severe hepatic disease should not use the patches.

Personally, I love, love, love them.  I do use them on my feet and it provides quite a bit amount of relief for me.  Danielle cuts them up and uses them on her hands.  You can use up to 3 whole patches at a time on any body part.  So that means you can cut up to three patches to put where you want.  They have stickiness problem as the sides of them tend not to stick and then they roll up and fall off.  We use medical tape to tape the sides down if that happens.

WOW....might have to get me some. How long does the patch last?

i use some patches called abc heat plaster. you cut it to size and it works really well.  they are a herbal patch with arnica and capsicum extract. they are used for myalgia, lumbago, back ache, rheumatism and neuralgia. you just have to be wary using them as some people are allergic to arnica or capsicum
