Elbow ’loud cracking sound’? | Arthritis Information

Hi all,

Have you had this loud cracking in your elbow?

Other joints?

love, sarah

Not in my elbows, but in my feet and ankles. I do have to pop my elbows from time to time because they get this nagging aching feeling. After I pop them, they feel better.
Blessed39214.8396990741I am definitely an elbow cracker, especially on my right side where I have nerve pain.  I also crack plenty of other joints, and many crack on their own (if I flex my back muscles a certain way, I can get a crack without even really moving).  Only once or twice has my elbow cracked on its own.Recently, I have had cracking in my ankles when I stand up after sitting a while.  Not painful, just a cracking sound.  They have been swelling and aching for a couple of months now (RH says synovitis) but not pain, just extra achy on the cold mornings and at night.

They kinda tingle when I'm in bed at night too, up to about 1/2 way up my legs, again, not painful, just achy.

Now I have a question too, for Blessed and Inner Glow - what do you mean when you say YOU pop or crack your joints?? I have the cracks and pops. I was always told not to worry if it didn't hurt.

thnakx all &, rebecca,

It's kinda scary,

sarah

I have it in one of my knees. It will pop a when I move my leg a certain way,
no pain, just popping.

My ankles do it the loudest but lots of my joints will pop easily on their own. Only my knees will hurt when they pop and they do hurt! My shoulders will pop a lot too especially at night when I try to turn over in bed.

I always popped my knuckles when I was younger. I find myself doing that occationally even now. Old habits die hard.

I wiggle my toes, they pop. My ankles, fingers, shoulder and my neck. I wish I could pop my back. It does feel better after I pop them. Just moving makes them snap, crackle and pop! Sometimes it's really loud and other people can hear it. lol [QUOTE=Kiwilass2]Recently, I have had cracking in my ankles when I stand up after sitting a while.  Not painful, just a cracking sound.  They have been swelling and aching for a couple of months now (RH says synovitis) but not pain, just extra achy on the cold mornings and at night.

Well for me, it feels like there is air pressure or something making my elbow ache inside and i just throw my limp arm to the side and it pops! Does that make since? It makes it feel so much better...
I was told it was air mixing in with our synovial fluid in out joints.  Also, as we get older, things tend to pop and crack.  I can crack my foot, my big toe, my boo boo knee, and three fingers. Well, my knee, I more pop that than crack the thing lol.  Mention it to your dr. at your next appointment. That way he can make
sure that isn't anything going on. If it hurts when you do it you may want
to mention it to him sooner.

becky

my knees crack all the time...

once when I was at my rheumy's in the waiting room, the nurse called my name and when I stood up it sounded like someone shot a rifle.. the whole office staff burst into cheers and applause and told me I won the  contest...lol

( I love the people at my rheumy's)
