Happy Mother's day to everyone!  Happy Mother's Day to the moms with four legged kids also!!!  Before we had kids, I would always get a Mother's Day card from our dog lol.

I have requested a nice thick steak grilled out.  I don't eat too much red meat but mmm this sounded so good for some reason. I blame the pred!!  LOL!  American fries, salad, and corn.  YUMMY!!

A little edit to this post.  Here is a little history of Mother's Day.  Enjoy!

The earliest tributes to mom was way back when the Greeks dedicated their spring festival to Rhea, the mother of many deities and to the offerings the ancient Romans made to Cybele Their Great Mother Of Gods.  Christians celebrated this festival on the fourth Sunday of Lent in honor of Mary...Mother of Christ.  In England, this holiday was expanded to include all mothers and was called Mothering Sunday.

In the United States, Mother's Day started about 150 years ago when Anna Jarvis, an Appalachain homemaker, organized a day to raise awareness of poor health conditions in her community.  She figured this would be best advocated by mothers.  It was called Mother's Work Day.  Fifteen years later, Julia Ward Howe, a Boston pacifist, suffragist, and author to the lyrics The Battle Hymn Republic, organized a day to call for peace since she believed that mothers bear the loss of human life more harshly than anyone else.  When Anna Jarvis died in 1905, her daughter, also named Anna, began a campaign to memorialize the work of her mother.  It took awhile for her to get there.  She started off with her church and handing out her mother's favorite flower, the white carnation.  In 1914, Woodrow Wilson signed a bill making Mothers Day official here in the US.   It wasn't all carantions for Ms. Jarvis after this.  She got furious that people started sending flowers, presents, etc. on mothers day and totally started to commercialize it.  She filed a lawsuit once to stop a Mothers Day Festival and has even been arrested for disturbing the peace at a convention selling white carnations to mothers of a war group.  It has even been told that she confessed regretting starting Mothers Day.

Now, Mother's Day is the most popular day to eat out and telephone companies record their their highest traffic for the year.

So it just isn't another Hallmark Holiday!!!
