? Legs weak? | Arthritis Information

Hi, another mystery. For about 2 weeks I've felt really tired, even after waking in the morning, then my legs got this strange weakness. I thought it was walking the beach, etc. , but that's been several days ago and I still have this feeling. I'm taking more methotrexate than before 15 up from 5 mgs, 10 mgs prednisone which in the past just made me feel terrific, with lots of energy. Can't think of anything I'm doing differently. I'll phone in the morning and ask the doc, but have you all experienced this? My hands and fingers are still stiff, even with the preds (but better on 10 than 5). I don't know how I'll ever get 'off of it'! . I did get some 1mgs. and as soon as I get the remicade on the 21st, I'll try going down to 9mgs for a week than decrease it, IF I start to feel better????HOnestly, this is a new one on me. love Sarah

sure the weakness could be from muscle atrophy associated with RA but you need to rule out things such as peripheral artery disease.  Keep that plan to make an appt with your doctor.

i always have my legs weak so...for me is normal even if i try to walk every morning....for me is something natural that goes with RA

Wow, that could be anything.  Are you short of breath at all when you are out walking?  Or is it just fatigue and leg weakness?  Fatigue could be RA related.  Like buckeye said, the leg weakness could be PAD.  Or it could be all RA related.  Call the doc.

I have that too, but its not constant. It seems to occur maybe once or twice a week, sometimes all day and sometimes just for a few hours. I have been told that it is especially common if one of the places affected by your arthritis is your back (mine is). Is that the case with you? Is your weakness constant or does it come and go? I am also not on the same meds as you. The only thing I take is Relafin.

NancyI think a lot of it is the RA. I feel like my hands are the same way. I could
not squeeze the juice of a lemon out yeaterday. That has never been a
problem. The meds probably compound it a bit. It makes me realize how
important it is for us to get daily exercise. Hi all, thanks for responding: I don't know what it is? I feel better this morning for some reason, and better in general? I've got a call in about the meds, so I can throw this at them!! Hands still stiff, legs 'weak' feeling, general fatigue? The RA's got me!! going off to play golf anyway....I'll deal with this 'stuff' later. lv, sarah
